This is the new piece I’ve been working on, it’s finally ready for show and tell as a work in progress. This is a custom portrait – the setting of which is based completely on the fond memory of a woman about her her father. After composing the setting and pulling elements from several very old photographs, a bit of background here, a side pose there, the smile of her father, I merged all of it together and created this scene that (hopefully) matches her memories of sitting in front of the fire talking to her dad when she was a teenager.
This is the
third fourth revised sketch on canvas, ready for paint. There will be a soft glow about the room, which I’m really looking forward to painting. I’ll start the underpainting this afternoon and get work in progress shots up for you to see as I go.
