  • Dear Hillary Clinton,

hillary clinton campaign solicitation envelope USW logo There are two things I really, really don’t like. One is talking politics on my blog, and the other is dirty politicians. I’ll go ahead and address them both, just for you, Hillary.

I received your solicitation for funds in the mail today, and my first urge was to write “return to sender” and put it back in the mail. Nothing better than letting you pay for postage, twice, I say – especially when you’re soliciting campaign funds from a registered Republican. How broke are you, really, to send a mass mailing to people who are not even registered voters in your party, let alone living in the states you desperately need to win in order to be nominated, just to keep from drowning in the ocean you’re flailing your arms around in? I wonder.

I also wonder, Hillary, why there is a USW (United Steelworkers) logo in the bottom right corner of this envelope, when their very own website claims that they endorse Senator Obama. That has me curious, Hillary, I’d love to hear an explanation about that.

hillary clinton campaign funds solicitation So here’s the content of this lovely solicitation for campaign funds that I received from you today:

(Paid for by Hillary Clinton for President)

    “Dear Leanne,

After 46 contests and over 28 million votes being cast, we are in a neck-and-neck race with Senator Obama. Following a great victory in Pennsylvania, where we were outspent 5-to-1, we head into the final 6 weeks of the nominating process with great momentum — a momentum on which we need to keep building.

This month we face critical tests in Indiana, North Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky and Oregon. I need you to join our campaign today because this race is so close that the decision you make could be the difference between winning and losing. Can I count on you to help by rushing a gift of $100 or even $50 so that our campaign will have the resources needed to succeed?

Leanne, I promise you that as long as I have your support, as long as you are fighting by my side, I will work as hard as I can to win. We will keep fighting because America is worth fighting for.

With your support today, we can show them once again that we’re in this to win. Thank you in advance for joining our campaign.”

    —end of letter.

Um. Hillary, let me just point out a few things since you’re obviously completely unaware. You’ve only managed to secure 19 states. That’s 29 states going to “them”. That’s “neck-and-neck”? You are 308 delegate votes away, Obama is only 121. You are 187 votes and 29 states BEHIND Obama. That’s not “neck-and-neck” in the eyes of many Americans, Hillary, Obama is the obvious choice for the Democratic party.

Does that not say something to you, that a majority of your party wants “the other guy”? Or is that why you’re soliciting Republicans now?

Second, why on earth would you think soliciting a Republican is a wise choice? Obviously where I stand on issues is totally different, otherwise I’d be a member of the Democratic party. Why would you think that you have a remote chance of becoming more than junk mail in my household?

Third, you’re obviously more clueless than you seem on TV. If you’re so in tune with the middle class, what the he-double-toothpicks makes you think I have a spare $100 lying around to throw your way? Seriously? OMG, d’oh, and double d’oh.

Fourth, this one is the kicker for me, “we can show them once again that we’re in this to win”. Who’s “them”, Hillary? Yeah, that’s what bullies do, they’re gonna show them who’s boss. And guess what? Even if you win the nomination for your party, you still won’t win my vote. I don’t buy into what you’re trying to sell this Country, and as a military wife, I think that should speak volumes.

Last but certainly not least, I live in Illinois. You already lost here. Take me off your mailing list.

You had me laughing here. I have friends who admire her bulldog tenacity…they think that’s what’ll be needed to “get things done”. But for me, she has turned out to be just plain audacious. I used to defend her when my brother would call her the devil incarnate in a way that only an over-the-top evangelical can…but I can see more clearly now. My big question now is what will Obama do with her.

Marcia THANK YOU. Because I don’t like writing about politics, either – it’s a really touchy and very personal subject to a lot of people. The last thing I wanted to do was cause a ruckus between me and the registered Democrats I know and love!

June, I’m so glad you were laughing. You were definitely on my mind when I hit publish!! I’ve just been watching these primaries, and wondering why. She must have a point – that only she really understands. If I were a Dem, I’d vote Obama. I don’t get why people think a “tough guy” would fight more for other people than themselves – bullies have always been selfish, “me first” kind of people. What she clearly wants is a Clinton legacy, first and foremost – and she’s going to great lengths to try and get one.

well, mccain is soliciting democrats. obama keeps spamming me with his email even though i’ve told them to remove me from any list.

I guess most real “artists” are Democrats though. So they kinda gave you the benefit of the doubt and thought you were both. Guess they were wrong on both counts.

Gigglechick – I don’t know you, or even have any idea how I could have offended you by having a response to Clinton’s solicitation, but your insults are completely unwarranted and unwelcome.

I’m quite certain I’ve never come to your blog and said anything as rude.

I’ll release your comment though, because I think it’s indicative of the type of people who support Hillary and I think people should be aware when they cast their vote what they’re getting this Country into. A lot of hatred wrapped up into one potentially great American.

YR – Thank you. Unfortunately, you can never get away from “the dark side” of politics. I believe everyone should have an opinion and it’s everyone’s right to have a differing opinion. That’s the liberal side of me – I’ll agree to disagree, because I think ultimately everyone has the same goal – just different ways of getting there.

If everyone meted their words and thoughts as carefully, we’d be in a much better position as a country.

How unfortunate that people like gigglechick cannot express themselves without degrading others unnecessarily.

Leanne posted her opinion, but instead of simply acknowledging that or keeping silent [always an excellent option], the chick chose to hit below the belt.

This is not MySpace and I’ll bet you are not 15, chick… so why act like it?

Meanwhile, Leanne… don’t let this person dissuade you from writing; you’ve a gift for creating, whether it’s on canvas or the blog.

I will admit that I am a democrat and that I have not decided which one to go with, however, I do believe that a decision needs to be made on who will be the final runner. It is tearing apart the party to carry on this way.

I will admit that I did find that your comments about Hillary being a bully and this…

I’ll release your comment though, because I think it’s indicative of the type of people who support Hillary and I think people should be aware when they cast their vote what they’re getting this Country into. A lot of hatred wrapped up into one potentially great American.

is hitting just slightly below the belt, (You missed all the girly, needful bits) hehehe. BUT, I do not take offense easily and let it be just what it was meant to be, your opinion, as we ALL have one (although there are some [gigglechick] that need 100 mile-an-hour duct tale in a very bad way… :muted: did I say that out loud? :sarcastic: ).

We all just have to remember that there are bad apples in every barrel and that includes political barrels as well. No one person can satisfy all and that is why we hold elections, with the hope that the majority gets it right.

PS: I bought the WP Dummies book… does that mean I won’t be a WP idiot anymore? hehehehe  :friends:

Yes, Phoenix – I do think that her comment is indicative, though not a sweeping generalization – and that since “I’m not a democrat, I’m not a real artist” – I think I’m entitled to hit back – particularly since nothing I said was pointed at anyone but Hillary herself, and this is MY blog, and that person has never shown her face here before now.

As far as Hillary being a bully? Her words are those used by bullies. Are they not?

Nothing I said was directed at you or any other registered Democrat or Hillary supporter. It was a letter to Hillary, from a Republican. Obama is a much better candidate and I do hope to see him as the nominee.

LMAO, I went back and read it again… the real kicker? This is more of a bulling than anything else written in that letter to you:

Leanne, I promise you that as long as I have your support, as long as you are fighting by my side, I will work as hard as I can to win. We will keep fighting because America is worth fighting for.

I find the words “As long as I have your support” and “as long as you are fighting by my side” as an extremely bad choice of words. Does that mean that if we are not she will quit and not fight for America any more? Is it a threat that you support me or else?

I think that HIllary’s campaign manager should rethink he position if he can’t get a better handle on things better than this. LOL

ahhhh politics…that and religion are the two easiest ways to get folks riled up 🙂

I have friends who supported Hillary, friends who support Obama and friends who support McCain…and none of my friends would say anything like what was said to you.

In my personal experience, the most hurtful things I’ve heard have come from the husband of a friend of mine, a very well educated and wealthy man who happens to be a Republican and prejudiced in every way one can be. But I don’t think ALL Republicans are like that, in fact, I KNOW they’re not.

    shrugs…C’est la vie, right?
