I just can’t get enough of these adorable little birds. The hummingbirds are quite active right now, they’re on the feeders and flowers constantly. I was playing with my camera (Sports scene auto mode, Panasonic Lumix FZ50) and got some incredible shots today of this little female Ruby Throated Hummingbird and had to share.

Amazing shots!!! I am playing with my new lens to capture the ones that visit me daily. I need to try the sports mode. I’ve actually had one come up to me as I was sitting on the patio, of course I didn’t have my camera!!!!!

It is too hot by my house for these beauties, but I was at a friend’s house the other day and one flew by like it owned the place or something. LOL!

We used to have them fighting over my feeders when we lived in Texas. so much fun to watch. DD is jealous though cuz she doesn’t get to see them…she keeps forgetting her glasses.

I believe this is the way God wanted us to see things before the “apple” incident – otherwise why would He have put such beautiful markings on such a tiny little creature???
    Awesome photography!

Pam, that second shot makes me want to pet under her wing and say “tickle tickle!” because Quintin would love that, and he would hold his wing up for me to do it.

Several years ago I was watering flowers with a fan type sprayer and a male ruby throat started flying thru the spray. He would buzz thru the spray then land on the fence to preen. he did this about four times in a 10 minute period. Amazing

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW……Thanks Leanne because I am sure I would never be able to see these awesome little creatures so close up otherwise. What amazes me it that he isn’t actually standing still while drinking. He is flapping away the entire time while his little legs hang in the air. WOW again.
