Though I very rarely, write about politics on my blog – I woke up to two unsubscription notifications in my mailbox, and a drop in feed subscribers. I find that incredibly sad, particularly since I make it a point to accept everyone’s differing opinions, and I could never see myself ditching someone purely based on their political views. As an artist, I am pretty liberal. I’m not just an artist, though, I am a Christian, a Mother, a business owner, and the wife of a Staff Sergeant in the Illinois Army National Guard. I have the luxury of being able to see things from various perspectives, and the disadvantage of being lumped into a category of stupid people that don’t get it.

Over the course of 4 years I’ve only talked politics on one or two other occasions when it didn’t relate to my husband’s service in Iraq. If your choice to part ways with me is a political one, I am very sorry that you feel that it’s a topic divisive enough not to disregard as a differing view.

Well, it could have been totally unrelated to your political blog post. I think sometimes people get overwhelmed by their email volume, and if your subscription email came to them at the same time as some others, they might have decided they needed to cut back some blog subscriptions.

Then again, it could be totally related…but still try not to take it personally…people do like blogs to stay on a certain track that they are used to. I’m constantly working on keeping my blog on a certain direction. I’ve found that lately most of my blog readers are other artists, so I’ve been trying to gear the content to them – even though in the beginning, I thought that potential clients would be the readers of the blog.

People who read your blog probably want art tips so they can learn to draw as wonderfully as you do, and to learn how you organize things so you can get so much done! I know I am amazed at how much you accomplish!

Don’t take it personally… as I am reminded about all the time by a certain co-writer over on my blog… “Do you write for them or for you?” It is their loss and those of us that stay are the lucky ones, because we get to see all of your sides. I am a dem and I took no offense at all to what you wrote. It is a right as an american to voice your own opinion… and if some can’t take it… then I guess it is good for us that they left the kitchen eh? :friends:

BTW – our host has not gotten back with me… now two weeks again… AND I offered to pay them to clean things up. I checked for those byte hogs and I am not running any of them. sigh…

Well, I can’t really add to what Darla and Phoenix said. They’re both right.

You, my dear, are a light in the window. A welcoming, bear hug, hot chocolate homecoming.

If a few paragraphs about personal responsibility rattles a couple of fools, then you’re better off without someone that unstable reading, eh?

    We love you!

Hopefully it is some kind of misunderstanding like Darla mentioned above.

It is refreshing what Phoenix wrote up above. And Pam too. I’m speechless. :friends:

I echo Phoenix…as I read your post I was disappointed that you feel that McCain/Palin is the right way to go, but I am all for a wide marketplace of ideas and opinions…and your right to have them. That’s what makes America America, no? :grouphug:

I try not to inject too much politics in Spatter, but have. Not too risky…everybody seems to agree that Bush was a train wreck. But future posts might not be so unanimously accepted.

Sweetie, I disagree with you on politics (big time), but I’ll keep coming back. I read it, started to comment, edited myself from commenting  and came back again. Those folks will miss you and be back. You are too good to not read!

Even if my blog subscriptions dropped to just a dozen, I might be sad, but dang, I’d be in the best company.

    I love you guys.

I find that really odd, cuz while I’m as “RIGHT as they come” I can still read an appreciate all points of view. There are two blogs that I read who I know are “lefties” but I don’t care. If God made us all the same that would be boring.

Don’t stop beliving or sayin how you feel.

besides the main point of your post was that people need to take responsibility for themselves and not expect our government to take care of everything for them.

You, my dear, can write about whatever you want, whenever you want because 1) it’s your blog, and b) you write so well. And 3) because I like you just the way you are.

What a shame that politics sends people running to their mommies and daddies to make things all much better. You know what? We’re different. We don’t all agree. And that’s a really good thing! Without differences, we’d all be a big gray boring blob devoid of texture, color, flavor, and surprises. I certainly don’t want that.

And I’m very glad I found you via Pam and Mrs. Who. Or was it just Pam? I don’t remember and it doesn’t much matter, cuz you’re just awesome and I love to read whatever you write…even if we sometimes disagree (which I’m totally sure we will at some point). You can’t get rid of me as easily as writing a post.

Well, what’s up with that? Unsub’ing because of politics… hmmm. Too bad, if that’s the case. On the other hand, if it makes them feel more comfortable, then I can only say ‘go with God…. unless you’re an atheist.’

I, for one, have been talking too much about politics lately. It seems to be a very personal subject. More personal even than say sex… or so it seems. Besides, it can be scary. Scary when I realized that everyone doesn’t think the same way I do. “What the heck is up with that?!?”

Fans will come and fans will go ’cause, well, that’s just the way they are… but I will always be a fan of yours. (Even if/when we don’t see things in the same way.)

I learn a lot from my blogger friends with differing opinions, including you, and I am actually relieved when friends write about opposing political views because then I feel free to express mine.

Love you, Leanne. Don’t feel like those two unsubscriptions represent all of us.

I think we will all burst during the next sixty days if we cant discuss politics. We just have to be respectful of each other. I respect someone with strong political opinions more than those who are apolitical because they care. They only thing that bugs me is when they lie about the other candidates and their supporters.

I know it makes you sad and concerned. I don’t think you need to worry about it Fruggy. Why would you want to keep talking to folks who don’t want to talk to you? Anyway, it’s their loss as far as I’m concerned, you’ve provided a cool play ground here and you even spoil us with all your beautiful art and photography – so… elbow room is nice :yahoo:

ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! Too bad some people cannot agree to disagree… geez. It is totally their loss my dear, so don’t let that spoil anything you might want to say. I personally enjoy hearing different opinions on everything, it helps me to make my own.
