The pavers look very staid and regimented- I am reasonably certain that you are anything but!

I chose the cedar in your poll only because I like the more natural look, you will really get more height out of the pavers and that's the whole purpose of doing this. You might like to use the pavers, but instead of standing straight up, put them in at an angle...almost diagonal. They would have a point on top rather than a flat line....it would almost have the look of a picket fence. Good luck with whatever you choose...I am sure it will be beautiful! Please post "after" photos!!

One is definitely more structured and one is more carefree, insouciant, if you will.

I picked the pavers. Only because they seem to fit the function better. Not becuse I find them more appealing.

Are you looking for function or looks? Won't the pavers stand up longer than the wood?

If that isn't a factor, what kind of look are you trying to portray with your garden? More natural and whimsical? [wood]

Leave it to me to pick the loser. I just wanted to say... if you're looking for a tighter fit, the bricks have no gaps, but the cedar is more natural, naturally.

What is in your planter? If its manicured plants in a more formal planting arrangement use the pavers. More cottage garden looking plants in a more natural arrangement go with the cedar. Keep in mind though that the cedar might not last as long, especially if it is in an area with a lot of moisture. It also won't keep that newly hewn cedar color unless it is stained. The sun will fade it out within a year. Happy Landscaping!
