Every year, several bald eagles migrate south to areas where it’s easier to fish on the ice. Since we live on the Mississippi, we get to host many of them through the winter months. Right now there’s no ice, really, but they’re hanging out, fishing on the inlets of the river and nesting in groupings of trees that are hard to access by people.
We did get down to see them yesterday, and many of my pics turned out just plain crappy. Even with a 12x optical zoom, they’re just specks on a poster sized image. This is the best one I think, that shows the most detail of the bird. I tinkered with it a bit to make it as clear as I could. I’ve got a couple more bird pics I’ll put up tomorrow. Enjoy!

They are just the most awesome birds. Ever.
Great shot – even if you had to tinker 🙂
We have a lot of bald eagles here too… magnificent! I can’t get enough of watching them. The first week of February there is an Eagle Festival at a spot an hour or so away – education about them, viewing, and just plain fun. The kids adore it… I find them so awesome!
There is nothing more majestic than our National Bird!!
