Project: Custom Logo Design
Format: Adobe Illustrator Vector Graphic
Notes: Kimberly re-launched her solo photography business, Joslyn Place Photography, and needed a new logo that would retain the elements of the previous logo for familiarity, but also bring her name into the spotlight.

Project: Custom illustration
Medium: Adobe Illustrator Vector Drawing
Notes: Several years ago, I completed an illustration of Chickadee and Monkey (see previous illustration). My task this year was to bring the illustration (a flat photoshop painting) up to date in Adobe Illustrator as a vector graphic. Having a vector graphic illustration means that the possibilities are endless – this can be used for web, print, and even apparel.

Size: Final Print Size 8″ x 10″
Medium: Drawing turned Illustration – Adobe Illustrator / Prints & Shirts
Notes: Doctor Shnurman asked me to create a drawing based on an old coffee mug. Using the mug as inspiration, I turned an old unknown doctor cartoon into the family physician we know and love, adding personal touches with denim and snakeskin boots.
I provided him with a gorgeous 8×10 print of the finished illustration as well as a few shirts for friends and family.
Medium: Illustration – Adobe Illustrator
Notes: My client requested an illustration of his dog, Ruby, that he could use on his site and throughout his business.
After creating a cartooned pencil draft, I brought my drawing into Adobe Illustrator and created a vector illustration that can be re-sized and used in a multitude of ways. From posters, letterhead, stickers and web graphics, Ruby will sit, and stay!

Medium: Watercolor painting (3″x12″), PSP to digitally enhance and paint for web.
Notes: This custom painting will be used as a logo/header on the web.
She was looking for a feminine cafe scene, with a literary feeling. Flowers on a table, an open book, a stack of books – tea, and soft pretty colors. I worked up a sketch first, which she approved. I then created a watercolor painting from the sketch, which is hers to keep. Once I scanned in the painting, I re-watercolored it digitally to enhance the pretty pastels and soften up the artifacts that scan in with “real” artwork, and what you’re seeing here is a 1/3 scale version of the full sized web-ready painting.

Medium: Graphic Design/Layout
Notes: The bride-to-be contacted me about designing her “Save The Date” annoucement cards, wanting something symbolic of their lucky day.

Project: Custom Illlustration, Corporate Business Logo Artwork
*Client purchased royalty-free rights to this artwork.
Details: A custom torch logo graphic, inspired by a “pass the torch†image that my client had seen. The pose is my own, my own makeshift torch (my gigantic gesso brush) my tripod and trusty camera – and photographed my own hand in two different positions to use as a reference for this project.
This began as a rough sketch, turned watercolor painting, turned digital painting using my Wacom in Corel PSP X.
This is the digital painting / finished logo of this project.

Notes: My client was looking for an illustration of a medschool student who is very obviously still in training. I put together a sketch and developed it into a graphic illustration that will be incorporated into his custom blog design.
