I just spoke with the gal organizing all of the applicants entries. Here’s the rundown:

I can submit pieces that have been sold (phew, cause I only have 3 oils in my private collection!), and they are rated from 1-10 (10 being best) in the following areas:

1. Impact – the piece should have a positive initial reaction when viewed.

2. Concept – the approach to the subject matter is unique/different/original.

3. Materials & Technique – the works show creative and proficient use of materials.

4. Consistency – show a professional, mature and cohesive body of work.

She recommends (strongly) that all pieces are within the same genre, so I will have to stay within my animal paintings since that’s my primary genre.

That doesn’t mean that’s all I can show (should I get accepted this year), I can submit animals and hang digital photography, still life, whatever I choose once my work is on exhibit.

Okay. Time to narrow down the selection!

I don’t know how they pick? I know when we did a show at our restaurant (monthly) they sort of had to coordinate and not vary too extremely in subject matter. But I don’t know if they do that for a Gallery.

I like Grandma, Homecoming, Antoinette, Taba’s Mousie, Timmy, Purple Tigerpixie. Ooops, that’s too many because I like a lot of them. You’re so talented!

ok, you know I can’t pick just 5, but here are my favorites in no particular order. Antoinette, Alex, Mark in Oil, Pearl Earring, Riley, Lion, Ellie, Anniversary Rose and the Potatoes (gotta have some fun with it!) Go for it, and if they do not see your talent they are missing out, not you. You have so much to offer the world through your art so take the chance and you never know whose life you will get the opportunity to enrich! I vote for Rusty and Sissy for certain. I also like the stargazer. I am interested in the same questions that Erikie asks. Maybe you need to tailor your entries to what fits the requirements. I am a firm believer in stretching yourself…so put yourself out there. take the RISK. 🙂

hey!! i would apply again if it’s something that is important to you. but really whether or not they accept you doesn’t say a thing about your work. we all know you are suuuuuuuuuuuuper duuuuuuuuuper fantastic!! and this little mousey that is hanging on my wall looking at me agrees!!( i got it yesterday! thank you soooo much it’s gorgeous!)

It is a juried show “competition” or is it to be juried to get accepted in the gallery as one of their artists? Also, what are you supposed to submit, slides?

I agree on Coon, Antoinette and Stargazer, to those I would add Alex and most definitely your husband in uniform. Wow… how realistic you are! I Love your art.

I would say my favorites are- Pearl earring, Coon, Sheba, Stargazer lily, and Antoinette.
This way you have a little of everything. Portrait, wildlife animal, domestic animal, flower, and still life !!!
