I hope I am doing this right. Please find a picture of our beloved horse, Maxx (e-mailed). He was a longtime resident of Castskill Animal Sanctuary, a haven for abused and abandoned farm animals. Maxx was a former show horse who hurt his leg when jumping a fence. His owner was dying of cancer and asked CAS to take him in. She wanted him to live the rest of his days at CAS and to not be adopted out. Maxx was an incredibly kind and gentle animal. He was the horse that everyone learned with: how to put on a halter, how to walk a horse, how to groom, etc. He actually helped you put his halter on and take it off. His favorite game was giving you a backrub. Sadly, Maxx was euthanized on August 5th due to severe hoof problems. He was nearly 40 years old. His halter reads: Maxx — you are loved. And he always will be.

I hope that you will consider drawing this beautiful animal for our silent art auction. Thank you.

Melissa Bamford

It is a photo of my lovely JoZe as a pup. I lost her at 16 months old, she ate something that got stuck in her intestines and I was heartbroken and shocked when the vet called during her surgery to say she could not be saved. I still believe she was trying to send me a message – 2-3 months after her death I was diagnosed with colon cancer. (I was having symptoms at the time I lost her). She was a vibrant life! Won’t ever forget her and all the joy she brought in her short life.

As Foofur is my dog, our furry friend Boris was his. That doesn’t mean we both love both dogs like crazy!
We got Boris when he was two years old. His owner was moving to Africa and couldn’t take him. Through an e-maillist I heard about him. When we drove to Belgium to get him, he enchanted us with his beautiful eyes. 🙂 He was a big friend to evryone, including Foofur and the cats. Bastet, our black cat, was his buddy: she washed him, cared for him, slept close to him…
Unfortunately Boris got sick some weeks ago. We tried everything, but things got worse. It turned out he had an inoperable brain tumor. We had to take a difficult decision, but we let him go to the Rainbowbridge this week (Monday). He didn’t deserve to suffer. We miss him sooo much…
His picture is here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=72405&id=677652271&saved#/photo.php?pid=2102495&id=677652271

Your portraiture is just astounding. I still look at the portrait you did of Mojo and it fills my heart so fully. You have a gift, my dear.
