As I write this note to you, Sebastian is peacefully sleeping next to me. My father has been seriously ill and rather than submit Sebastian to another dreaded airplane trip (I flew out here with him in August), I left him at my parents house while I made a quick trip back home to winterize my house and take care of some things. We’ve been apart for three (whole!) weeks and now that I’m back, he’s sticking pretty close. 🙂 I am, too! My parents report that he was a perfect gentleman while I was away, but my house back west felt terribly empty without him! What a comfort to have him here with me, clear across the country from “our” home.

Sabs (as I call him) continues to work on perfecting his different preferred sleeping positions. He’s got “roast turkey” and “seal” positions down pat…but right now seems to be favoring either “snail” or “monorail” (on top of a chair back, all tucked under). 🙂 His favorite way to fall asleep is by having someone rub his nose gently.

I submitted his photo via email…and he really wants to win! 🙂 Well, maybe that’s more I who wants to win…for times like the past month when I’m away from him. We’ve been together since he was 6 weeks old and I brought him home from the shelter. Thanks for considering us! 🙂

Bailey was thrown from a car and lived on the streets of N. CA for a month. His original rescuer was told to put him to sleep by other rescuers, that he would have no quality of life, because he drug his back legs from an unknown neurological injury. That was 14 years ago. He has lived a wonderful life with me and inspired me to devote much of my life to pug rescue (www.pugsavers.com). Since January of this year he has been unable to walk, but he continues to enjoy getting carried around, his food and being loved. He is my heart dog, my soul mate, and it is so difficult seeing him get old. What makes it more bearable is knowing he was loved and adored every moment of his life since he has been with me.

My best friend, Jan Bonds, lost her beautiful black lab, Ace, two months ago to unknown causes and has been grieving for him terribly. I think if he could be honored with a beautiful portrait by you, it would mean the world to her. He was the most lovable big guy, a real sweetheart.
Thank you for doing this for people. Your talent is very apparent.
