In 2002 I had to put my cat down and it was harder to do that than to divorce the man I was married to at the time. That oughtta tell you something.
Hugs and love to you my friend.

I’m glad you were able to say goodbye though. Aleast you were there with her, holding her and comforting her as she went to sleep. We had to put one of our dogs down last year and my parents still can’t look at pictures without crying. It’s so hard losing a part of your family. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. :friends:

I’m so sorry for your loss, and after losing our cat last Christmas after having him for 13 years, I know your pain. It does get better as the days go on. The only thing that got me through those days was knowing he wasn’t suffering anymore (he also suddenly couldn’t walk anymore). *hug*

You captured your feelings – and the feelings of any one that has lost a cherished pet. I don’t know when it will get better – but it will. I promise. Until then- cry and remember her goodness.

When my dog Patricko died we saw his little spirit when we were going through Hurricane Hugo. We saw his same size and shape in a white blur standing in the dining room where he liked. It was him(luv). He was there to protect us. I believe that you did what was best for her, so she wouldn’t have to suffer any longer. :hug:

Fri, 07 Jul 2006 11:49:29 +0000http://intricateart.com/blog/i-am-a-mess/#comment-7824I can’t add anything new. Mourn as you need; she was a part of the family, a part of you. She still is.
Ultimately you gave her the gift of freedom. It’s the hardest -and most loving – thing a pet owner can do. It was your responsibility and just like your care of her over the years, you carried through without regard to your own feelings.
That’s loving, and very selfless.
She’ll make her presence known; you’ll feel a cold nose against your hand, her brush by your legs or even ‘hear’ her flop down for a nap.
{{{HUG}}}
Now… I need you to remind me of all this next year. Or the next. Let’s not rush it. 😉

Thu, 06 Jul 2006 19:57:04 +0000http://intricateart.com/blog/i-am-a-mess/#comment-7823Leanne please believe me when I say that in time it will get better! When I like you had to do the same to my 12 year old Sheba, everytime I saw her favorite sock the tears came. But in time the tears stopped and all I remembered were how she loved me, was always there to tell me good night and good morning, and that the joy she gave me was real. You too will reach a point where it doesn’t ache any more. But it will never go completely away. She was a part of you and your family. She was family. Mourn your loss, and don’t dwell on the end, remember the good times, all those times you took those wonderful picture of her! And yes I feel there is a heaven for dogs and cats. And there they play together! My prayer go out to you in this time of your loss!

It will get better – little by little – and eventually you will remember all the funny goofy things she did and you WILL smile.
Until then, cry as you need to.
