I found a baby morning dove swimming in my pool. I already have pigeons nesting in my house so one more baby is more than welcome. Should I put him out by the feeder where all the adult mornning doves feed incase his parents are looking for him?

I always put any stray baby birds under the feeders, they seem to find their way just fine there. 🙂

I have a baby mourning dove at my feeder. The problem with the little guy is that It seems to have something wrong with his eyes. It looks like he can see barely out of one but the other looks like a wart or something covering it totally. I would like to care for him but I am not sure if I should handle him or not. I would like to put him in a large cage so he would be protected from things that might harm him till he is better or at least find out what is his problem. He spends most of the day under the feeder and under a large tree. With the way his eye sight is, you can get very close to him before his will fly. I worry that a cat or something could easy sneak up on him. The othe mourning doves do take after him and he doesn’t seem to move too quickly to get away. My question is will I do harm to him if I cage him? Should I just leave him alone and let nature do it thing? If you can help I would appreciate your input. Till then I will continue to try and find out what it is he has got. Hoping you can help. Thank You

i found a baby dove and it has it feathers it doesnt look to young. It was walking around my yard. I have a big dog and there are cats and there are dogs that just run aound. I live in Rhode Island and i need to see what i do with this bird. It is gray w/blue around it eye rings and it seems that it cant fly. It seems to get around the yard though. It is warm here so. I put it in a pet carrier and i am unsure what to do. I know it is illegal to keep wild life as much as i wish i could have the cut thing. It seems like it has shinny feathers around its head with a fusca color. If you can help me email me please. thanks Grace

Just so everyone looking for information has my advice – please do call a local vet office for a wildlife rehabilitator in your area, or Google for one. They can advise you on what to do when you come across birds that seem to be helpless or at risk.

Hey I saw that picture and I thought of Chickita. Chickita is the bird I rescued along with her sister Banana. They were both baby birds they were the cutest things.I found them on a rainy day all cuddled up next to each other.I got them and put them in a big pan and under them was a towel. Then we took them to animal rescue and their fine now.
