  • Custom Portrait Call for Entries : Week #24 (6/8-6/12)

    June
    8
    2009

Today marks the start of Week #24 of my 2009 weekly graphite portrait giveaway! Each week, one winner will be selected to receive one 5×7 graphite (pencil) drawing from their photograph.

Last week, there were no entries – which was a blessing in disguise. We spent the weekend getting my eldest ready for her camping trip, so time was precious.

My plan, should that happen again, is to go back to previous weeks and draw a winner from previous entries.

A note on framing for portrait winners: I recommend
    Nielsen Bainbridge Archival Gallery Frames

    available through Dick Blick.
Sox & BJ (below) are framed using this frame:

WEEK 24 : CALL FOR ENTRIES
    Theme

        : Open (pets, animals, people)

    Deadline

        : Friday, June 12, 2009 (around 5pm CST)

    To Enter

: Leave a comment, include a link to your photo. For e-mail submissions,

leave a comment with your story

as your entry, attach your photo to an e-mail separately, and send to gallery *at* intricateart dot-com.

    Note: *G* Rating only

Each Monday, I post the weekly Call for Entries along with the previous weeks completed portrait (above). I may change the subject theme each week, or leave the theme open, so please pay close attention to the details in each announcement.

Entries will be accepted through Friday afternoon around 5PM CST, at which time I will close comments and select one winner from the entries received. I’ll announce the winner on Saturday and post the completed portrait with the following week’s Giveaway announcement.

Qualified entries will include a valid e-mail address, and the comment should include one link to a photograph owned/taken by the entrant. If you do not have a place to upload photos to link one, you can e-mail it to gallery *at* intricateart dot-com. Your entry, however, should be included in the comment section below, with your story – should you choose to include one.

The Selection Process: In case you’re curious, I’ll share my little artsy process in selecting the winner. First – I do not read any entries at all during the week. I do not read them because I don’t want anyone’s entries to have any more time than any others to settle in my creative brain. At the end of the week, I close comments. When I sit down to go through all of the entries, I read the story first, and open the photo link in a new window. When I finish reading, I flip over to the photo and my initial reaction is what I go by.

If your entry is not chosen, you may enter again. I encourage you to include a short story with your entry.

Your challenge? To inspire me! Choose your photo wisely – I will select a winner based on how the photo and/or story moves me.

    Good luck!!

Sarah’s our good old soul, a truly good dog if there ever was one. She is special for that and for the fact that she won us money in a video contest. Her “talent”, if you’d call it that, was begging for coffee beans. With the prize money, I was finally able to buy a DSLR.

She doesn’t get much coffee anymore, just a bean every so often. Her face seems to be more gray with each passing month, making her resemble a little monkey when you view her straight on. Her hearing’s beginning to go, but her eyes and nose are good and she’ll happily stalk :squirrel: squirrels and chipmunks for hours.

Here is the video that placed her in the top four of Mutt Madness:

And here is the photo I would love for you to draw.

    Thank you! 🙂

Wait. WHAT???? No entries??? Holy crap. Of all the times for me to miss. I’m never going to wait until the last minute again, I promise.

Now I am going to go scramble for a photo to be certain that NEVER happens again.

    I’ll be back.

Hello 🙂 I couldn’t help but to enter your contest because I have always wanted a pencil drawing of my favorite picture of my oldest daughter Autumn. This picture of her is in my angel cabinet, I collect angels in her memory. Autumn passed away at the age of nine of a pituitary tumor back on May 29th of 1992. Autumn was my oldest daughter, I have another daughter Sarah who was four at the time when her sister passed away. Sarah is 21 now. Autumn was named after the season because she was born in September on the 16th. I cannot tell you how heartbreaking losing her was…although over the years I have learned to live with it…but miss her terribly everyday. Autumn was my beautiful little girl who had a heart of gold and she always had a smile for everyone. My heart still breaks when I think of her life ending so soon and all the things we all missed out on because her life ended so soon. I do know she is in a better place, with God… so I do find comfort in knowing that. I do hope that you will consider doing a pencil drawing of Autumn because it would mean soooo verry much to me. Thank you and God bless 🙂 Tammy Falke
