Last week’s winner, Willie, was a much loved Maine Coon cat that was rescued by Ammie. Her love for him is still apparent, even after his passing. Willie is pictured above, next to his completed portrait.
Each Monday, I post the weekly Call for Entries along with the previous weeks completed portrait (above). I may change the subject theme each week, or leave the theme open, so please pay close attention to the details in each announcement.
Entries will be accepted through Friday afternoon around 4PM CST, at which time I will close comments and select one winner from the entries received. I’ll announce the winner on Saturday and post the completed portrait with the following week’s Giveaway announcement.
Qualified entries will include a valid e-mail address, and the comment should include one link to a photograph owned/taken by the entrant. If you do not have a place to upload photos to link one, you can e-mail it to gallery *at* intricateart dot-com. Your entry, however, should be included in the comment section below, with your story – should you choose to include one.
The Selection Process: In case you’re curious, I’ll share my little artsy process in selecting the winner. First – I do not read any entries at all during the week. I do not read them because I don’t want anyone’s entries to have any more time than any others to settle in my creative brain. At the end of the week, I close comments. When I sit down to go through all of the entries, I read the story first, and open the photo link in a new window. When I finish reading, I flip over to the photo and my initial reaction is what I go by.
If your entry is not chosen, you may enter again. I encourage you to include a short story with your entry.

What an awesome giveaway WOW thanks for the chance! :thanku:
SIMPLY STUNNING…To me, this drawing seemed to have so many more details to re-create and Leanne, you really outdid yourself on Willie. His face and all his fur came out truly magnificent…such fine, perfect details. I really love this one alot.
For this week, when you say ‘kids’ you mean HUMAN ones, right? (Just kidding!) because I don’t have any of those!
hehe – Karen, yes – human kids! :friends:
Your excellence continues…
Does an 8 week old puppy count as a baby…? 😀 😀
Awesome as usual!! Unfortunately my kiddies are out of the age range this week but I can’t wait to see the results, as usual!!!
Cute cat!
What’s the age cut-off for babies???
My daughter Emma is 2 (will be 3 on Feb. 17th). This photo was taken on my dad’s birthday-July 1, 2008. Emma would light him up by merely “showing up” at the house. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in March 2007. I have many wonderful photos of the two of them, but this is my favorite. She was his “best medicine” when he was really sick. In the picture, you will see the glow in her eye that she got from her grandpa. Up until the day he died she “knew” he was sick but never acted differently towards him. This day was his last “good” day and probably the last great photo of the two of them. You can see the love in her eyes and his…. He died from lung cancer on August 9, 2008. (6 months ago today)
MJ – This weeks theme: KIDS (Babies through age 5)

First off, I love Willie! All of the winners have been great and you have recreated them wonderfully! I always intend to enter but never get around to, so I made myself sit and pick a photo before I could do anything else. Now, let’s see if I can tell the story:
My first grandson was born two years ago, a grandchild that I never knew would exist. My daughter was told she would have difficulty getting pregnant, if she even could.
I grew up around cameras, my dad owned a camera store and we were part of the local camera club. Now my husband and I have our own studio. So, it’s really precious to me to put a camera in my grandson’s hands and see what happens.
I have been pointing my camera in Tristan’s direction from the moment he entered the world. When I happen to get a photo of him with a camera in hand it’s like all our generations collide and when I see the photo I see not only my grandson, but my father, and myself.

Cheers Debra. (Australia)

Hello. This is my son Jaiden when he was a newborn. He will be 2 years old in Aug. Thank you.
:clapping: :clapping: :clapping: Wow Leanne this is an awesome take! Keep it up!
This is my Little Princess (Kaia Elizabeth) she is 2 yrs old & a Big Papa’s Girl! (actually his only Grand-Daughter) He loves Harley’s so she loves Harley’s! I took this for him while she was playing on his Bike. If I won I would give it to him as a Birthday Present… even though it would be very hard to let go, I’m sure he would love it very much.
Repost so everyone can see the Photo as well…

Hi!
I blogged about you this week. Didn’t see the contest of this week though. Until now.
At the moment I don’t have a photo scanned. There’s only a small maybe one of us has a photo of her on the computer.
I’ll ask around and when I’ve found one I’ll may you.
Even when I don’t win I’m grateful for the opportunity.
Good luck with your choice.
All those babies and children are so very special.
Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks to everyone for your entries this week!! I look forward to choosing a winner tomorrow morning!
[…] Last week’s winner was Janine who submitted a photo of her baby girl, Juliet, shown above next to her completed portrait. I chose Juliet purely for selfish reasons, it’s a gorgeous photo of a gorgeous baby with gorgeous and HUGE eyes. I could not deny my inner artistic desire to draw this baby. That’s my story – and I’m sticking to it! […]
