  • Squirrels are Misunderstood

    April

This morning I had the opportunity to meet this fabulous young lady for a photo shoot back behind the poplar tree. She wanted me to tell you that squirrels are really not all that bad. They have a soft, sensitive side – just like you and me. So in an effort to portray their inner “enjoying nature and foraging for food and shelter like the rest of us” beauty, she asked me to share with you these wonderful shots from her own personal portrait session.

I really have to applaud her for these shots. They’re personal and revealing, they tell a story about how sensitive and playful a squirrels’ personality can be. I’d be surprised if your heart doesn’t just melt. You’ll never see a squirrel the same way again. Maybe.

Casual, down to earth. Relaxed squirrel.
    Pensive squirrel.

    Responsible squirrel.

    Submissive, vulnerable squirrel.

    Playful yet serious squirrel.

Demure, mature, sophisticated squirrel with a soft side.
    (this one is her favorite)

I’m currently scheduling squirrel portrait photo shoot appointments for late summer; my calendar is booked solid with my own wildlife until then.

*ahem* I’ll try to remember this softer side of the squirrels as I watch them hang upside down from the tree branch to get to the food inside the ‘squirrel-proof’ bird feeder. :duh:

How adorable – I like the 4th one down…so cute. I remember I used to go eat my lunch at a golf course and sit in our car and eat our lunch and watch the squirrels. I never saw them look so docile like laying down and just chillin before. They were usually running around playing. But I tell you what…. we saw a couple of fights and that was horrible. They can be really viscious to each other (worse than kids). I wouldn’t want one mad at me. They really go for the throat. Otherwise, I luv them… they are adorable. BTW… love the new look on your blog.

 I LOVE squirrels! Except when they have trysts in my attic. But they give us daily acrobatic shows, leaping from tree to tree, and then onto the roof (THUMP, which scares the dog LOL).

I would love to have a black squirrel for a pet. PRECIOUS!
