    They’re back!

I saw a Ruby Throated Hummingbird the day before yesterday when I put fresh nectar out, he must have gone and told all the other Hummies about us. I’ve been waiting, patiently, for the opportune time to photograph them, and that’d be around now (noon’ish). She seems to be getting comfortable with me near her now, I’ve been standing about 2 feet from her (behind glass) and she’s been checking me out a bit. It won’t be long before she perches for me. Have you ever seen a Hummingbird perched? They’re amazing. Here’s a photo I took last summer.

One more for good measure (you’ll be seeing SO much of her, I’m sure!)

I heard one but haven’t seen it yet. I guess I should put up a feeder. They like my petunia hanging basket.

I am hoping to be able to attract some this year! don’t know if I will be able to but I have a perfect bush in the front yard with my feeder on it. I will have to put the telephoto lens on for a picture I am sure. Especially if I want a shot like yours!!! LOL

I rarely see those birds around here. I’m not sure if it is because the larger birds of prey are so prevalent around here or if it’s my cats. THey seem to move too fast to have to worry about predators, however. I think i’ll plant more hummingbird shrubs and flowers because they are so beautiful! that photo is spectacular!!

I love hummingbirds. We have a few that visit us – one keeps coming infront of my window that I’m sittin’ at…. I’ve yet to capture them in photo tho. Sigh.

I think I’d better get my feeder out!! Your picture is gorgeous!! I have seen them perch in my dogwood tree during a rainshower. They are just the sweetest things!!
I worry about the construction dust and all the people around… And the fact that all their favorite flowers have been either moved or destroyed. I’ll get their garden back up and running soon enough… Well, maybe not soon enough, but as soon as I can… javascript:moreSmiliesAappendSmiley(‘’)

Great picture. When we camp I sit out under the awning and they come to my lights I put up. They think they are huge flowers so I get to see them up close. I’m never prepared with my camera though.

I’ve never gotten to see one perched. Just flitting around eating at the feeder that my mom keeps for them. They’re so fast!
