Pigs On Parade

Today is the day for the Pigs On Parade event in Geneseo! There are 11 pigs in all (I think that was the count), here are a few pics of my Pig for you. It was HOT out there! Catybug and I are on the other side of the hayrack doing the “parade wave”, Doc Bordwell riding alongside as well. There was also some local news hanging around, so if I catch any extra publicity of course I’ll be happy to share that as well!

He recieved some nice compliments!

The clearcoat really gave the painting a great shine, he looks beautiful out in the sunlight! I’m really pleased with how it turned out. The parade was handled so efficiently, and the community involvement was really great!

The only thing missing was candy, according to Chickeymonkey – she was expecting us to be tossing out candy from the hayracks. Which explains why she wanted to be an onlooker with Daddy!

Here are some extra pigs – we didn’t get pics of all of them. My personal fave is the Chef! It is really well done (hardy-oink-har-har)!

Those are cool. In Toronto I’ve seen the moose, in Ottawa the huge tulips, and in Vancouver I’ve seen the grizzly bears. It seems to be a popular idea with lots of room to improvise.

I have never, ever seen pigs on parade and now I think I’ve seen everything. I LOVED this little post!
Locally, there are manatees and turtles that the artists will paint on commission, usually for local charities. I haven’t seen them on parade, however… and I think it’s time we did the same thing.
I am late to post but a very happy belated Bday to Catybug! She’s a cutie, that one. Bet she’s having a ball with the pup. 🙂

Yours was probably way more detailed than any of the others! I like the penny pig. Can I see a larger picture of that one? Was it real pennies glued onto it?

Oh Leann thats for sharing these pictures. I do love all the pigs. In TN it was black bears and I loved to go to all the places and see how different each one was. This is neat! Being a quilter I like the Pig in Stitches. And I got a quick view of your close up posting of your finished pig and I love how the hair/fur made it really come alive. :meow:
