I finished the custom design and installation of M. Dawson Photography‘s new gallery today. Fellow bloggers (or surfers of my blogroll) may be familiar with her work, maybe you aren’t – either way, her new gallery is fresh off the launch pad and will be up to speed soon with all the eye candies required to propel this lady into an amazing career in portrait photography. She has an incredible talent and I’m so glad to help her create a place that focuses on exactly that!

    Have a Daisy Day

Another Pink Gerbera Daisy (a next-door neighbor to this guy here) opened up and enjoyed a brief shower of sunshine yesterday. We also had our very first Primrose bloom in a sea of what look like weeds right now.

I normally don’t share my doodley sketches, but got to playing with small sections of the three I’m working on and thought I’d give you a little glimpse of my sketchbook in its own artistic form. This will be the only work in progress of this one that I’ll share, I’ll show them again in their final form. I am also putting together a photoblog/gallery design for an amazing photographer that you’ll get to see and visit soon as well.

I hope your weekend is wrapping up nicely.

It has been chaos around our house today. This morning, Home Depot dropped off a truckload of materials at 8:30AM. Shortly after that, our neighbor knocked on the door and (I thought he was going to get all neighbor-nosey and ask what we were doing to the house), he told me that since I’m such an animal lover, he thought I’d like to know that there’s a great big german shepherd loose in our backyard.

    Foxglove & Macro

I planted this floxglove a week or so ago. (You can see it in the front of the 4th pic here.) I picked one that wasn’t on the verge of blooming because I like to wait. I like to know whether or not something I planted is going to make it, you know? I have a brown thumb, believe it or not – so that my yard is such a deep shade of green with splashes of such beautiful color and interesting flowers is very unusual to me and it’s taking some getting used to.

You’re one click away from a macro foxglove water droplet shot.

    Red Breasted Grosbeak

New to our yard, this is a Red Breasted Grosbeak (identified through BDI). They’re a part of the cardinal family, have really awesome markings – and are highly skittish! I hope he returns and gets more comfortable so I can watch him feed and get some better images of him. What a neat bird !

Of course, I have more pics of our “regulars” to share. The Red Bellied Woodpecker spent a lot of time here yesterday and I got to hear him chat with a Grackle about who should be eating on our feeder. The Grackle won (grrr) and the Woodpecker told him off from a safe distance. He sounds a bit like you’d imagine a Whippoorwill sounds when he’s chatty. A couple more images of him, and of course another House Finch , because they rock my eyeballs!

This guy is new to our feeders, he and his wifey are enjoying the thistle. The only difference between the orange house finch and red house finch is just that – the orange and red. It sure is neat to see a bird with orange on him though, he caught me off guard!

    My other Thirteens
This week I thought I’d let my photography speak for me. Here are Thirteen Macro Photographs I took especially for today’s Thursday Thirteen. If a picture is truly worth 1,000 words, that’d make this entry worth 13,000 words. That has to be some sort of a record!
    :winking:

There are 12 more, have a look!
