Did you know that I offer a custom 8″ x 8″ monochromatic portrait package for just $140? You can see my portrait packages right here, if you wanna look.
Blue Monochromatic : Caitlin
Green Monochromatic : Evan
Here’s Evan, he’s the fourth of six 10″ x 10″ pieces in this series of monochromatic paintings that will be on exhibit. Two more to go in this series and then I’ll be completing Kiki and then – last but definitely not least, the Heron.
Yellow Monochromatic : Austin
Halfway done now – this is my little yellow dude, Austin. He’s number three of six in the series.
(Can you see where I’m going with this?)
Other tidbits – this is my 16th painting of the year (47 days into the year). I have 11 days and 11 hours to have all of my exhibit pieces ready to hang, and either 5 or 17 more paintings to complete, depending on how things go over the next few days.
Red Monochromatic : Alex
One in a series of six for my exhibit, I was up late lastnight finishing this red monochromatic portrait of a sweet young lady – her name is Alex (everyone say HI to Alex!). This series will all be 10″ x 10″ square paintings in oil. I’ll be working on the next one (or two) in the series today.
Painterly tip: The secret to getting a light red without it becoming pink is this: cadmium red, flesh tint, titanium white.
Kiki – Calico Cat WIP #1
This is Kiki’s underpainting. She’s a stunning calico and will be a beautiful addition to my exhibit next month. The next time you see her, she’ll be finished. She’s 16×20, a nice big size, larger than life size, actually.
Great Blue Heron : WIP #5
I’ve just completed the underpainting on this Great Blue Heron that I began (ahem) last year. This is one that I’ve procrastinated that needs a lot of detail work yet, so it really was imperative that I get this underpainting completed so that I can spend some quality time with this piece once my other show pieces are ready. It’s 18″ wide by 36″ tall, an awesome size for this bird painting.
Carol & Jerry Completed
I just completed this lovely figurative portrait of Carol and Jerry – beautiful people, they are. This is an 8×10 oil painting on a canvas panel. My palette on this portrait – believe it or not – is the same as that of my animal paintings adding cerulean blue (Erikie’s favorite).
Truly a challenging piece for me, since I don’t paint too many people, but it’s another of those paintings where the emotion of the piece is more overwhelming than the intimidation of the challenge.
Still up for approval (so there may be minor revisions), I’ll post this final scan once it’s all done, dry & varnished.
Katie : Completed Dog Portrait
I did a pretty darn good color match (on my monitor, at least) of her portrait. I’m excited to scan her and show you her teeth, and nose – and eye! Details on her painting – this is a custom oil painting (of course) of my clients sweet yellow lab on a 12×16 stretched canvas. (I photographed her for her portrait, as well.)
She’s a pretty girl. I’ll post those final scan detail shots when she’s dry. Until then – enjoy!
