Riley’s done! Riley’s done! 16×20, big fella he is, yup. Scan and stuff forthcoming…

I’ve gotta stop for the night now, this is the progress on Riley. I was really hoping to finish him tonight, but that’s just not going to happen. If I hit the hay now, I can get up early and get him done, and then continue on with the Macaws. The birds probably need more drying time anyway.

Whew! What a great painting session! I ROCK! LOL Just kidding. Partially. I am very pleased with this underpainting. Having this much done already is going to save me a great deal of time covering canvas. Now I can just work on the feathery lil-details! YAHOO! I’m going to finish on schedule!!!

I’ve just finished the re-sketch on Thor & Oz, they’re on a 24×24 (2ft square) gallerywrap canvas. I’ll start the background on them tomorrow after I finish up Riley.

My goal for tonight was to get this underpainting completed, and voila, done. I would like to finish this portrait tomorrow, but won’t even be able to begin working on him again until this layer is dry which will be around 1-2PM tomorrow afternoon. (Note to Riley’s dad, please let me know if the bed color is correct, the photograph was a toss up between drab olive and taupe plaid.)

Quick update, this is where Riley’s underpainting is right now. I’ll work more on it tonight. He’s 16×20 in case you’re wondering. 🙂
