It’s raining cats in my studio – this is my second completed cat portrait this week. Morris is an orange tabby and this is also a memorial painting for his furmom. He passed away just a couple of months ago so I hope that his portrait brings her years of warm memories and smiles.
I’ve left my brushes beside the piece so you can see what I use when I work the final layer. Yes – that’s a toothpick, so you can see how small the brushes are. I do paint each piece of fur one piece at a time, that’s what gives my paintings their depth and realism. It may be tedious, but the results are so well worth it to me, and to my clients.
I’ll post the final scan once his portrait is dry & varnished.
Thanks for tuning in to my studio cam, if you had the chance!

I did get to see you work. 🙂 I was so excited as this was the first time I caught you in the act. 🙂 Beautiful as always!
He’s just beautiful! I like how you do the fur.
CRAP!! i missed it again. could you please give me a schedule, like a tv guide kinda deal? :sarcastic:
it looks gorgeous.
This portrait will mean the ‘world’ to Morris’ mom. He was a part of her life for 19 years and now he is captured in all his handsome glory. He came out magnificent. Leanne, you really honored Morris and his life by painting such a beautiful reproduction of him. This portrait will help a grieving heart heal and bring so much comfort. He really came out beautiful. Thank you.
I really like the feeling coming from this one. I know this will be a cherished portrait.
This is beautiful!
Leanne did the first portrait for me of my cat Elsie after she passed away at the age of 19 also. You know, that’s a huge chunk of time… I got her when I was in my early 20’s… just think of all those secrets she kept over the years! How many therapy hours she logged!
I know that Morris’s mom will really appreciate this painting.. it will be a cherished treasure. I’ve run the gamut of emotions that came with Elsie’s passing, but each day I see her portrait and it does nothing but bring me smiles and wonderful memories.
Bravo Leanne… and hugs to Morris’s mom!
Morris and Callie are beautiful. You have such a way of capturing them that I feel like I know their personalities. Amazing! Hope you have a wonderful day!
I love your cat portraits.
He’s gorgeous! I can’t believe you use those tiny brushes! It must take you forever.
He’s beautiful! His eyes are gorgeous! I watched you for awhile on your cam! Very cool!! Morris’ mom will love it!
