  • Did I mention…

…that my hubby’s unit has been activated again? He just got back from Iraq in March 2005 and now his unit is heading for Afghanistan.

Thankfully, God Bless the guys in his unit, he’s been elected to serve as the Unit Administrator during this deployment, which means he won’t be leaving the states. Amen to that.

His unit is like a family, though, and as much as we’re relieved he gets to stay behind, his brothers are going to endure more time in the Middle East. Please keep the Dixon IL-ANG (Illinois Army National Guard) unit in your prayers. And the people of Afghanistan.

I know you had to be so relieved to hear that he’s Admin for this tour! I’ll keep his unit in my prayers. May God bless them all and keep them safe.

Oh I’m so glad he gets to stay home. But I do so appreciate the others who aren’t so lucky and have to head out.

My husbands brother is a priest who, very recently, was sent there. I am sure he will watch over all the guys.. and gals there.
On a side note, did I mention Leanne that you always crack me up? Loved the plant/paint story.

My son-in-law got back from Afghanistan a couple of months back. There’s much success happening over there that is simply not reported by the media.

Fortunately, his unit has been given a year to “stand down”; he’ll be able to work on his bachelor’s (one semester full time) during the break. He should be finished with school within the next 1.5 years. Praise God.

Anyway, I’ve read there’s talks of transitioning pull-outs to come in the next couple of years. Let’s hope and pray for continued success and protection for our troops.

Wow. I’m glad for your family that he will stay stateside. My ex was in the military during the first Gulf war (beginning years of our marriage) and I feel so much for those families that are dealing with deployments now.
