I lied. We did end up going out yesterday! We drove for a really long time past a lot of cornfields, and landed at this really beautiful park, that looks nothing like a cornfield. We grabbed a paddle boat (ouch) and tooled around the lake. Isn’t it beautiful? It was a really nice day, and my legs are really sore now. That’s a lot of paddling!
They have several of these nests built on the lake for the geese, and the girls were so excited to see eggs sitting in all of them! There were goslings hanging out with their parents on the shoreline, too. I couldn’t paddle fast though, Chickeymonkey yelled at me when I was going too fast.
Only one of the nests was being tended to, I just love this pic!
This guy just wanted to go fishing. He boarded the boat long before his owners, and kept looking at them like “well? get your butts on here and let’s go!” Hunting dogs are so much fun to watch.
And here’s Caitibug, who just wanted to get into the lake and swim. Jay stayed close to me, she was a little intimidated by being in something small floating on the water that you peddle just like her Care Bear bike. We did have a trolling motor, but the battery died by the time we got to the other side of the lake, so the whole way back we were sweating like banchees. Lesson learned: use the trolling motor on the way back, not on the way out!
