These are two very large red poppies that bloomed in my wildflower garden yesterday. The poppy on the right would spread easily over the palm of your hand, it’s pretty large. That particular garden is at least waist high on me now, and the poppies are more sparse this year because all of the other large weedy looking wildflowers that I’m hesitant to pull are taking over.
I get excited now when I see spots of red in the wildflower garden from my studio windows. I was excited to see them growing freely on the sides of the road on our trip down south. How cool that the state of TN encourages wildflower growth on the side of the highways! I am impressed. Illinois would have had that burned up and mowed over in a matter of a week.
Do you have a favorite wildflower?

That red just pops out of the picture; you can make the everyday beautiful, Leanne! :good:
My favorite wildflower is the bluebonnet… I love Spring in Texas, the roadways alive with bluebonnet, indian paintbrush, buttercups, brown eyed susans…
Daisy’s and Phlox are my favorites. GA also grows patches of wildflowers on their highways. They will be a half mile long… then a half without and then more flowers. It is beautiful! :iloveu:
And they call it POPP Y LOOOOOoooooOOOOooVE! :yahoo:
My flavorite…hmmm perhaps that be wisteria and peonies. Me like fragrance seee? I happen to be personally attached to periwinkle hydrangeas just because someone I love sent them to meh! :lovestruck:
Beautiful poppies! My favorites are black eyed susans .. love the orange and black.

Poppies are very pretty!
I LOVE Phlox wildflowers. We’ve driven by fields of them and they just take my breath away!
