HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!
I’ve got my green on – where’s yours?
Alright – all you Irish folks, speak up and claim your heritage. As for me and my blood, my grandma came to the USA from Cork County, Ireland, when she was a teenager (and I’m sure Mom will post a story here in comments). I have fond memories of her cussing at me in Gaelic when I was a wee lass, for wiggling her waddle while she played pinochle. Aaah those were the days.
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

LOVE that poem!
And I see you have little green elf things sticking out of your hair today… :yahoo:
Did your grandma leave you any Irish recipes as well? I have a friend that makes Irish Potato cookies, and swears by them.
I haven’t tasted ’em yet, however.
Happy St. Patricks Day!!

DH’s family is all German.
today we’re going to a friend’s house to have some good old Irish fun…eating green foods and playing games. I made green rice krispy treats and am bringing green guacachips.
I need to find me some corned beef w/ cabbage though…I’ve got a craving and the family will have a cow if I try to cook any here. bummer!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m not sure how or where, but I’m supposed to have some irish blood somewhere along with the Scots, English, French, German and Dutch. Yeah. I’m a mutt.
My husband’s family has some Irish–that’s where his and his sister’s pale skin, freckles and red hair come from. 🙂

The story is my great grandfather Harvey (my middle name) Walton (an English name) also emigrated from Cork, Ireland at the turn of the century (1890s-1900). We have no records though.
I’ve been to Dublin, Shannon and Limerick Ireland but was never able to get down to Cork (I’m tellin no blarney). I’m longing for the day I can return to search out that part of my family history.
FYI – Google’s page rankings have changed for most everyone, you might want to check yours out. A lot of big companies have been complaining.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day Leanne!
