You’re going to just love this. I just woke up from this dream, Someone Stole My Ceiling.
I did finish the ceiling lastnight, and soaked in a nice hot bath for a while. My fingers were swollen, cracked and dry from all the joint compound. My neck felt like my head was going to snap right off and hit the floor.
I rolled a texture into the ceiling using a roller that looks like an air filter. Our neighbor helped for a little while (thank you, neighbor!) and we got a huge chunk of it done – without J & PR I would still be up on that ladder, I’m sure. J brought over some bath salts late lastnight for me and it was JUST what I needed. Between that, some Burt’s Bees hand cream that came in a set from my good friend Lisa, and a couple of Aleve, I almost feel normal today. Aaah thank you friends!
In case you’re wondering, hubby is off on a training mission, which is why I’m doing this stuff. Of course. I always take on these kinds of projects when he’s gone, because I feel like he works so hard for us all the time, the last thing I want is for him to spend his time off working. I try to get all this stuff done while he’s away so that he can just come home and relax in it, maybe do a little trim work if he’s so inclined.
Today: Finishing seam and corner mudding, going to pick up flooring (yes I’m getting hardwood, but it’s faux hardwood – the snap lock laminate stuff), hopefully getting the wet sanding done (dry fast, joint compound!), priming, painting, and starting the floor installation.
It won’t be long, and I’ll be back to the easel!
Hopefully none of you are planning on stealing my drywall after all of this. I’d be pretty upset.

i love doing stuff like that, i put in a laminated floor in our basement, it’s alot easier than i would have guessed. i work best when my husband is away too, have a great day working, can’t wait to see pics of your progress:)
I do that kind of stuff while my hubby is out of town on business as well, though never to the extreme that you have! I am in awe of anyone who can do ceilings and put down flooring. :good:
The downside to the hubby coddling is that now after all these years of doing everything myself… he won’t even be bothered to take the trash out. I did it to myself, I know. :duh:
You rock, Leanne! 🙂
I got your email and THANKS! I will call you one of these days! I’ve got the unlimited long distance too. 🙂 Hopefully it’ll be a day where you won’t hear screaming kids. :giggle:
oooooooo can’t wait to see pics!!
You’re working to hard over there, you’re making the rest of us look bad! 😉
No way would I even consider stealing your drywall! I have plenty of my own!! I do understand what you mean about trying to get things done so the hubby doesn’t have to do too much when he is in down mode. And I find satisfaction from doing the chore myself. You go girl, but don’t over do it and pull something!! :meow:
I can’t stannnnnnd drywall so you won’t have to worry about my stealing it. The ceiling looks great. you really do have multiple talents. I’d give you a hand if I lived there!
It must be spring because you are busy as a bee as usual just about killing yourself! Save some of that energy for art!!! And please don’t hurt yourself :bawling:
Don’t you know that there’s a big demand on the black market for drywall? 😉 I had a dream last night that I could fly, but people were always reaching for my feet trying to pull me down. Ha.
Wow! You’ve been really busy! I do that too – Mr. Bug goes away and I do home improvement. Do show us some pix! I love those pix where you can see progress!
Don’t forget to relax.
