The three squirooges.
I had 8 at one time, but these three were a hoot.
Don’t bother getting up. No, really. Just lay there and eat.
Because a little nibble of bread isn’t enough when you have to share with 7 other squirrels. Fend for yourself!
(Especially while the other guy is lying in all the other food.)
Did you just throw PEANUTS out the window?!?!?!?
(why yes, I did!)

HA! That squirrel is eating like my dog eats. She knocks the bowl over, then lays down next to the pile and picks them up, one nugget at a time, slowly munching. It’s the funniest thing!
I just love watching the squirrels…even though they are just fuzzy tailed rats, they are cute. Eat like pigs, though!
Busybodies!!! Our Buddy still chases them across the yard every so often but he has’t caught one yet.
Lots of fun to watch, aren’t they.
The squirrel and the Cheesecake
My battle with squirrels is well documented. All during this summer and fall, the squirrels have taken turns in messing up my newly done landscaping in the front lawn of my house, but what happen last night is most impressive to say the least.
I had a busy day yesterday. First thing in the morning, I did my voluntary work, from there I attended church at Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 11a.
Had enough time to go home for a few minutes from church to pick up some ciambelle and go to dinner at a friend’s house for 1p.
We had a lovely dinner. Rita also was there. Us 3 girls had a wonderful time full of stories to tell and lots of laughers. Around 3p I left to go home to bake one of my
specialty…THE cheese cake, topped with fresh fruits. I was expecting a visit from my old friends from the condo (I used to live in the same condo) The cake turned out to be a piece of art (I wish I had taken a picture before…and after) I decorated it so that the centre looked like a cascading fountain of peach slices.
After the cake had been baked, I put it outside the back porch to cool off before adorning it with the fruits. After about 15 mi, I picked it up and decorated. Waiting for my guests to arrive, I covered it and replaced it out side the porch to keep cool (didn’t have the space in my fridge and was too lazy to bring it to the fridge in the garage)
Later, as I realized my guests will not be arriving… I decided to have a piece of the cheesecake by myself. I opened the door to the back porch…and low and behold…the cheese cake had disappeared….though the plastic cover was on the porch undisturbed. I was puzzled…to say the least.
Looking around to figure out where the cheesecake could be…I saw nothing, “hum!” I thought, “this is strange”. Glancing passed the huge maple tree in the back, I saw something shining in the distance. I went back inside the house to get a coat and my big flash light and walked towards the tree. Sure enough…there it was …what was left of my cheese cake no longer looking lovely. The cheese part of the cake was still intact…but all the fruit was gone, I wish I’d had recorded the whole thing with a camera. Keep in mind that the cake was baked in a graham cracker pie shell, and before I put it outside I had taken the time to fold the foil part over the plastic cover. For the life of me I cannot figure out HOW a squirrel took the plastic cover off, carried the darn thing down a flight of stairs and down to the end of my back yard without breaking a crumb.
Do you know how many times (when I was taking out the browned edges) the whole thing ended up in the sink? I am not upset about a squirrel messing up with my cake….I just would like to know how she did it. After a night of sleeping on this thought, I’m still in AWE!
