President and Mrs. George W. Bush reported taxable income of $719,274 for the tax year 2007 and paid $221,635 in federal income taxes, the White House said Friday. That’s nearly 31%.
Vice President Cheney and his wife earned $2,528,068, the White House said, and owe taxes of $602,651. That’s about 24%.
If you’d like to figure out your percentage of tax, divide your “total tax” (line 63 on your 1040) into your Taxable income (line 43 on your 1040).

I don’t know what percent we pay, but I know we owed. DH says that’s a good thing…the govt didn’t have our money all year. I don’t like giving them so much now. Oh well.
We were at the post office today and there were loads of people getting their tax returns sent certified… ummm a regular stamp works just fine. Oh well.

I seem to have too much taken out all year because I usually get a refund. Bad to let the IRS have my money all year? I suppose, but I like getting a “gift” at tax time.

I don’t know what our percent is, but I’m pretty sure we’ll be paying in. Hubby usually does taxes pretty early, but he’s been so busy this year, so we’re taking them this afternoon to be done. Not too excited about paying the price on top of the taxes, but there’s no way I’m doing it. I would make such a mess of it, it would not even be funny.

I don’t want to look at my tax return again. Maybe I’ll remember to do it next year, but just thinking about it makes me quesy… 😉
