My other Thirteens
2. I’m so in the dark about hairstyles. My 13 year old neice recently did my hair for me when she was visiting, and she used a straightening iron. Does it show my age that I didn’t even know there was such a thing? Oy. Now I have one. And it’s really neat, I think. I’m still figuring it out.
3. I picked up my photography from the museum last weekend. I said a long time ago that I’d post a pic of my peacock with the ribbon, so here it is (finally).
4. We still have the feeders full for the birds, and I’m suprised to still see quite a few Goldfinches stopping by to eat. This couple was here for breakfast the other morning:
5. We had 5 squirrels here all at the same time this week, too. 4 black and 1 gray, the gray one likes to climb the feeder poles and eat right from the source, the rest are happy to eat leftovers on the ground. This one, with the longest fingernails I’ve ever seen on a squirrel, was munching on leaves.
7. Have you ever gone looking for a kaleidoscope? I dare you. I thought (stupid me) that it would be an easy score, right in the kids party goods section. Right? Wrong. After stopping at 10 stores, Chickeymonkey held back big alligator tears that we couldn’t find one anywhere. The last resort (which is now going to become the first) – google. We googled kaleidoscopes, and found a specialty store online. Lucky Chickeymonkey, she now has a pshychedelic optical toy covered in monkeys.
8. I am slowly weaning off crack, which in my case are vanilla lattes. I was up to 5 a day there for a while, now I’m down to one in the morning. Seriously, the gals at the Java Hut must have snickered when they saw me jittering and needy begging for another bottle of French Vanilla Flavoring.
9. My studio is leaking. Again. Which means I need a new roof. Again. It’s not cheap, either. Things like this make me want to tear the whole house down and start over. Only in a new, improved location, with a really big piece of land in a warm climate.
10. Red.
11. I’ve been working on a forum for Thursday Thirteen (in my spare time, which is why it’s not live yet). This should be cool (she says, crossing her fingers, legs and eyes), because maybe once it’s active people will feel more a part of a community, sharing header graphics and info and things. That will be swell. I think.
12. Waiting for layers to dry has to be the one thing that truly tests my patience as an artist.
13. I shopped online yesterday. Imaginary shopping, I call it. I went to http://coldwatercreek.com and added all of the things I love to my shopping cart, and then proceeded to checkout, right up until you put a method of payment in there. Then I about died, because the total was UN•believably IN•sane. Thankfully, ’tis not the season to shop for myself, so I quickly emptied my cart and closed my browser window. Urge vanquished. I feel much better now.

1) I have been having THE HARDEST TIME finding jeans that fit. Good luck!!
3) Love your ribbons 🙂
4) I have a bird feeder up but no birds ever visit. Maybe they are picky eaters around here. I did finally see the bald eagle the other day. That was very cool.
6) Oh My – what a sweet face!!!!!!!!
8) Holy crap woman. That is insane!!!! I guess I drink that much coffee too but I would not pay for it.
9) Virginia, please.
10) What did I miss?
Waiting for layers to dry…yep, I’ve heard that rant before. Usually, though, it’s been when Mom’s in the midst of painting a mural for a client, and she had to stop for the day to let one layer dry before doing the next one.
Do you have any pictures of the kaleidescope? (I wonder why there aren’t any in the kids’ sections any more. I’ve read that they’re undergoing something of a renaissance, and kaleidescopes and teleidescopes are being made more finely now; but that shouldn’t mean that they stop making the kiddie versions, does it?)
I always enjoy your blog so much – and the pictures are beautiful!!
lol, I went catalog “dream” shopping at Cold Watercreek yesterday – don’t they have the most beautiful sweaters?!
Congratulations on the photography prize! The last time I won was way back in high school days – though it was the last time I’ve ever entered anything! 🙂
My 13 for this week is up as well.
I remember you posting that peacock pic on your blog and it did indeed deserve a winning prize. Congrats.
And yea, what is up with the jeans these days? I don’t like the flare bottoms either and I don’t like the low riders!
My 1st 13 in a loooong time is up!
you know i’m a fan, but that peacock pic is awesome, and the blue ribbon matches it. 🙂
I also like your holiday digs.
Your puppy is so cute!
I love your list and the pictures are awesome!
My TT is about Sinterklaas.
hi, hooray, i finally get to participate with you guys. i’ve been trying to figure it out for ages, but now it’s done.
first of i love your blog layout and the pics are super. my husband is sooo into birds so he gets to enjoy this post with me.
Totally loved # 13! I bet it made you feel good to know that you could get all that stuff you wanted into a cart and not worry about putting it all away! Internet shopping is a good thing. Beats the hectic stores for sure. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Happy Holidays!
First, thanks for stopping by my blog during my snow / sick day. :thanku:
Second, I love my straightening iron. Do yourself a favor if you start using one with any sort of regularity… Invest in a product by L’Oreal that you use before you use your straightener. It will help keep your hair from breaking. My hair is pretty long and frizzy (but not curly). If I straighten it, I can control it for about three days. The second product is called Beyond the Zone. It is an anti-frizz serum. I love that stuff too. It isn’t as oily as Fruictis stuff.
Anyway, later tater!! :meow:
hi, thanks.
pura vida means–pure life, but they use it here for everything under the sun.
love your pictures!
Thanks for stopping by. :thanku:
Very interesting. Can’t wait to here more on the TT Forum. Peacock photo is brillaint, not suprised it won.
love the look of your page. It looks like it’s scrapbook/card inspired.
I’m addicted to Dr. Pepper…wait no, I have no addiction problem.
Leanne, My favorite Levis are straight leg. Levis 505 straight leg available in stretch or regular denim. I get mine at Kohls. Hope you find some! Hugs, clara
Tuckerhead is so cute !!! :beret:
I think this might be my first time to your site, but that can’t possibly be right…anyway, I found it to be quite a feast for the eyes!
A few other things:
-love the name Tuckerhead (whether real or just a blog name)
-went shopping myself for a pair of jeans and found nuthin’! But I didn’t try Levi’s; maybe that was my mistake!
-I would imagine looking for a kaleidoscope is similar to looking for a gumball machine. That was my quest two years ago for My Boy. I never found one then, but just did the other day so it looks like he’ll be getting his Christmas present two years late!
-the idea of a forum for Thursday Thirteen sounds absolutely thrilling!
Great list, and thanks for stopping by mine!
Man, jean shopping is tough. Once I find some that fit, I buy MULTIPLE pairs, a concept my husband still does not get. 🙂
LOL, I can’t tellyou how often I’ve done the exact same thing at the “checkout” page online. Once I get the total, I FREEZE.
I love coldwater creek tho, I like their jewlery and watches, too, but I haven’t ordered anything from them yet.
I haven’t been able to find a pair of strait leg jeans in a year – and I refuse to shop in the Jurassic Ladies’ Dept. Love your Wheaton baby! We have 2 terriers, a Yorkie and a Teddy Roosevelt and they have definite ideas about how life works and their place in it! I also love the idea of a forum for community building… You know, It’s never occured to me to drop to read your weekly lists. I’ve always imagined you were far too busy to be bothered with all of us. This week, I decided to come by anyway. I’ve been TTing 15 weeks now, which is exactly how long I’ve been blogging. Keep up the great work. Your efforts are very much appreciated!
DK
Girl… Tuckerhead is the cutest baby – next to mine of course 😉
But I may have saved the day here… crosses fingers…
http://www.levisstore.com/ Love me now? lol
:pilot:
Fun list. Love the photos.
Thanks so much for coming by my blog. You crack me up with your TT. I do the same thing window shopping online. Of course, I did just put an order through at Land’s End for Christmas for my husband that was quite astonishing. :duh: He needed some new clothes and a good winter coat, though.
I have bookmarked that kaleidoscope site, by the way. I will have to take a look at it when the girls aren’t looking over my shoulder. :monkey:
Have a great day!
I really love your list! #1, I am so behind in fashion… I am still wearing slightly tapered Levi’s and am too cheap to go buy new straight legs. Too cheap meaning I have 2 little girls to shop for instead. ;O)
#2, I stick usually with a one layer hairstyle. I recently had layers because about 2 years ago I decided to stop dying and let my gray show, I had to have all the dye cut out. Now I am back to a short bob, hoping to let it grow. I just feel like a hairstyle will eventually be out of style, why not go with a classic?
#3, love you work, I will be back to check out more! I looked at your cats paintings, they made me drool. I am a cat person, add that with painting? I’m in heaven. I loved having people with talent read my 13 this week, it has inspired me to want to work.
#6 made me snort! I always say we are owned by 3 cats. Sheesh… i remember when I used to say 6 cats.
#8 made me chuckle, I am a “crack head” too.
#10… is it your favorite color?
#12 I can so relate too. I haven’t painted a whole lot, but when I did waiting was agony, i just wanted to paint! I guess this is a good reason to have more than one painting going at a time. Do you do that?
#13 I do that all the time.
My little puppybutt is a giant ball of energy, who is also convinced he rules the house. We recently did puppy school, and he was the star….until the last night, the big test. He must’ve had test anxiety because he simply wouldn’t perform. Grr!!
Thanks for the comments on my thirteen!!
Ooh, those are some great pictures! Thanks for visiting my site! Have a great weekend!
:thanku:
Thanks for coming by my blog to visit and commenting on my first TT. I love your artwork! I agree, California is a great place to live. Today on my way home had I chosen to do so, I could have driven with the top down on my convertible! I looked at your pictures of the snow, I cannot take freezing weather at all :cold:
