Fairy girl photography by Leanne Wildermuth

This is my littlest lady, aka Chickeymonkey. She found her wings last night, and insisted on a photo shoot. It was important to her that she wear this dress, “because it’s got pink flowers”.

During editing, I wanted to take it grayscale for the drama, but opted for select color saturation so her big brown eyes and pretty flowered dress would stand out.

Beautiful! My 5 yo loves fairies and yes, has wings she wears whenever she feels it. I like the color/gray scale balance in this photo, Leanne!

I don’t quite get this way of commenting but wanted to tell you it’s an adorable photo, and I like the color accent effect. If you go to my website (I don’t sell anything, no popups or ads of any kind), there is a link to an antique fairy book I put online, “A Year with the Fairies”. It was a lot of work, but I wanted people to enjoy it, think your daughter might like it.

    I love this very much.

It’s a serious un-smiling look. Yet that does not mean she’s unhappy. To the contrary, she’s happy. Happy that you did a “photo shoot. It was important to her that she wear this dress….”

And why is it that only females can stand hair in their face? It drives me crazy when my hair gets so long that it gets in my face.

A terrific photo! I think I know Photoshop well. But what you’ve done here will make me study select color saturation more thoroughly.

    Thanks, all!

Robert – I can’t stand hair in my face, but I think it looks nice that way! I used Corel PSP Photo for editing – went grayscale, increased to 16 bit color, then layered the color shot over top, burned it, did a slight transparency and erased all but eyes and dress. I’m sure there’s probably an easier way (manual select, invert, desaturate) – that was just my long klunky way of experimenting. 🙂

    Cute!

I just found my wings, too. I have them safely packed away now, right where I can get to them if I need them.
