I would like to see “your” spaces… studio, favorite corner… home decor type…

Oy. You know I spent hours cleaning for these shots, so I hope you left your shoes at the door, and you better have clean socks on!

Here’s a little intro, some eye candy from my studio:

Welcome to my studio! This is what you would see if you were walking into my studio. Please leave your muddy shoes at the door, and watch out for that treadmill to your right – ooh! Bowflex at 1 o’clock!

Now that we’ve avoided immediate catastrophe, you can hang your coat, or just drop it on the floor over to the left like we do. We’re sloppy people, make yourself at home!

Now, if you’re really curious, the first thing you’ll want to see is what’s on my drafting table! That’s the first place everyone goes when they enter our house. Right now it’s clean, I’m starting an illustration project so I’ll wander around the house with my clipboard and pencil until I find a cozy inspiring spot to doodle. I just put my utensils out so I can scoop them up whenever I get the urge over the next couple of days.

Since you’re over there by where all the action is, have a look out this window. This is where all of the beautiful, magical bird photography takes place. I keep this window very, very clean.

These are the sights I see through this window, I took this photo this afternoon from my hot spot. I thought about Chickadee when I took this shot, and now I’m also wondering if it’s just me, or if that poor little DeeDeeDee looks like he’s got a big stick up his butt today? (it’s an illusion!)

Now you want to look in my closet, don’t you? I thought so. Well, it’s just your typical supply storage area, all of my varnishes, pencils, colored pencils, books, oh what the heck. There’s a ton of stuff in there. I think I just collect art supplies for this cabinet, because what I primarily use is always out in plain view. So, here’s my collection of artsy things, they just make me feel “special”. If I ever feel like ditching oils – or even just cheating on them for a little while – I’ll find my fix right in here. Somewhere.

I’ll let you peek in just this one other cabinet, because this is where all the really cool stuff is. I’m talkin’ canvas, canvas sheets, canvas panels, CD’s to paint to, rubber gloves – just because rubber gloves are cool. Yes of course I use them! When the baby birds fall from their nests, I always have a pair of rubber gloves on hand to perform the search and rescue mission, so they are very important! Back to the canvas, and more canvas, and hey, am I ever gonna use those things? Ahem.

Alrightie then, there’s the studio. On to the next destination on your fun-filled guided tour through my home! Watch your step, you don’t need to fall flat on your face into the dining room like I did! That really hurts!

The next stop is at my office. This is where all of the graphic illustration, code, blog design, and photography magic happens. To your left you can almost see super printer #1, and to the right is super printer #2. Straight ahead is a purple keyboard – yes it’s PURPLE! A wacom tablet, and wireless trackball mouse that drives everyone but me crazy. Top it off with a stack of bills, some books on how to draw, a calculator and ONE UNSOLD YELLOW ROSE PAINTING, and voila. This is my little world, most of the time.

Sometimes, during creative blocks and heart palpitations, I’ll retreat to my favorite plaything in the living room. This is where I can immediately calm myself down in any given situation. I just have a seat, start tickling the ivories, and everything is better. I can play a little more than Mary Had A Little Lamb, but I’m not a concert pianist by any means.

Last, and probably the most important, is my comfy couch. The well worn spot is mine, of course, because while Mark was in Iraq (see painting in pic), I liked to sleep there right by him. I’m such a mush, eh? These days, however, I don’t see much of my cozy spot. I watch about 1 hr of television a day, if that. Most of the time I’m working, pacing, cleaning, or working out!

And that concludes the tour, I hope you enjoyed your visit to my humble abode!
