I love love love the new WP. I only wish the image upload would work for me but it didn’t, no big deal there is now a plugin to revert it back to the old uploader.

I just wish mine would take an upgrade… not even our lovely host techs could get it to take an upgrade and that was 3 versions ago!

Have I mentioned lately how sick I am of WP upgrades? How they are *always* a matter of life or death… or Technorati de-listing… and usually break a plugin or two…?

I could understand one, maybe two releases a year… but this is getting ridiculous… 😡

Does the instantupgrade plugin you installed on mine automatically back up my files or do I need to do that?

I’ve heard so many horror stories from people who have lost everything.

Robin – I’m surprised the image uploader isn’t working on the upgrade. Lisa provided a fix for the .htaccess which may be what you need – it’s a host/server related fix.

    Here’s her post about it.

Sue! You know I have not purposely neglected you, right?

    :sorry:

Let me know if things go amuck – esp. with the plugin.

Phoenix – I’m not sure why yours wouldn’t take an upgrade – you’re with the same host, right? Have you tried the upgrade plugin (after making a backup)?

Pam – I hear you. And in a few months, there’s another big jump. I’m not sure about they *why* there are so many, continual improvements are great, and I know the developers must feel that they addressed a majority of the bugs and requested improvements – but someone will always come up with something New! and Improved!

And then we will upgrade again.

Thankfully, it’s a couple of clicks away. Backup, upgrade.

    (oh, yes, and pray.)

Sleeping Mommy – I forgot to mention there *is* a WP Database backup plugin as well – if you want to do it all from the dashboard. The only problem with it is that the bigger the database, the longer the hangup during backup. Sometimes it’s much faster to do a full site backup from the cPanel and pull the DB out if anything goes wonky.

Now if my hosting service would get it up for me to install I can get a new theme. I tried yesterday to install a new one and 5 hours later I was back to the old one and had to reconstruct all my text widgets!!! (I think I’m still missing a few)

I’m wondering why there was a problem with your upgrade, Jo. Hmmm…

The text widgets scare me in 2.5.1. A few of the designs I’ve completed in 2.5 have vanquished the text widgets after I set them up. I was none too pleased about that!

OK…I’m gonna try upgrading later this week. When I screw it up, I’ll be e-mailing you :tick:
