I had the most fun opportunity to illustrate a children’s book for a college student – without giving everything away, I’m sure my illustrations are a big hint to the storyline!

I started doodling late one night, refined my doodles into line drawings, then colored them in using colored pencil on a really smooth illustration paper – scanned them in and further enhanced them for print using Paint Shop Pro. I’m so tickled with the results, I just had to share.

Which little fishy is your favorite?

I’m really drawn to the blue one, though the brown one with the fu man chu mustache is very, very good.

I love the yellow one with the big eyes! The one with the fu man chu mustache is cool, too. Ooooh! I know someone who could illustrate one of my stories…if I ever decide to get them published. Not the junk on my blog…the stories I tell. HEY! I want some more of those little faces on my comment box! Will you share what plug-in that is?

    What? You’re making me pick?

If these were stuffed animals — about the size of Beanie Babies — I’d buy them all. And not let the kids have them.

Can’t wait to see the book!

Woohoo! Thanks everybody! I’m glad you enjoyed them. I’m not really comfortable calling myself a book illustrator – yet, anyway – the individual simple drawings seemed like something I could do without feeling overwhelmed. This project was a lot about putting my big toe into that ocean and just testing the waters. ;)

Beanie fish would be really cool! Maybe someone will find me and offer me a bajillion dollars to produce them as beanies.

    :beret:

Clara: Thank you for noticing the buttons!

Shelly: My smilies are a custom set that I put together for myself using the more smilies plugin, which I believe you have installed. You may be able to find more fun sets through the plugin author. :)

I did a lot of work to finish up the design early yesterday morning. The comments finally have their style, and I like how you guys are all highlighted at the top of your comments. It’s special. :)

How fun! They are all so cute! I’ll have to show my daughter to see which one is her favorite. For me the sunny yellow one, and the one with the very cool mustache.
