    2005

34 years ago (no I don’t care who knows), is the day my mom went through major pain to bring me into this world.

Then she went through another ummm….18 years of pain raising me, and still more pain trying to let me go and live my own life.

Sorry ’bout all that, mom. 😉

Still, today is the day I owe her a debt of gratitude. Without Mom, I wouldn’t be. Anything. I couldn’t imagine that, and it’d be a real bummer to not live the life I live. So thanks, Mom.

    I’m one year older.
One year further away from my birth.
One year closer to my death.
One year less afraid of that occurance.
One year less worried about how people feel about me.
One year more worried about how I feel about myself.
One year closer to attaining my goals.
One year stronger in character and set in my ways.
One more year to look back with very few regrets.

One year closer to driving like a complete lunatic and making everyone else on the road angry.

One year closer to sitting on a bench in an art museum with my best bud Paige, across from one of my paintings, and remembering the time I painted that piece. Speaking a little loudly since we’re both in hearing aids by then. heh.

Finally, I’m one year more grateful for God’s gifts in my life, there are so many.

Getting old isn’t all that bad.

(except for the back pain and joint aches. Jeez.)

    Happy Birthday, Leanne!

And remember, when it’s 7:34 and someone asks what time it is, usually they say “7:30”. So that means you’re 30 still, right? 😉

(Of course I am not applying this rule to myself, at age 38 it kinda works against me!)

One year closer to gaining more wisdom for recognizing the beautiful and rare piece of art that you are! Infinite hugs to you!

I look forward to our many trips to the museums and art galleries. With twinkles in our eyes and bells on our toes. And a lifetime of memories to laugh, cry, and reflect on. You know, Leanne, all of your life experiences and treasured moments just wouldn’t be the same if you were never here to begin with. So, thanks to your mom for bringing you in this world! I think I can say thank YOU from ALL of your friends and family for touching our lives. sniffle sniffle…aw geez gotta get the Kleenex!

What? I can’t hear you. I forgot to wear my hearing aid! LOL 😀

[…] Every year on my birthday, I like to think about what I’ve learned over the past year, to see if that old saying “Older and Wiser” is true. I try to learn lessons and allow events to better shape my character, and hopefully out of all of it I’m a little better of a person, and I like myself a little more for who I am and what I stand for. My list isn’t all-inclusive, but these are probably the most significant things that have moved me and got me thinking in a years time. Here are my deep thoughts from last year, of course all of those things still apply. […]
