I’ve just completed making all of the 4×4 paintings patriotic! (That was part of the deal.) I’ll go back and add highlights and lowlights and stuff to give them dimension. Aren’t they fun??

Here’s the mousey background, I’m doing a pretty drastic dropshadow on it cause it’s going to be a very 3-d comin-off-the-canvas kinda mouse!
Here’s the background color scheme for Sissy’s portrait. The darkened right side will balance the shadow on that side of her portrait. I’m not sure I like the drop shadow on the ledge yet, I’ll wait until it dries and see how I like it, probably tweak it more.
Ok so Sheila gets an A+ on the last assignment, thank you Sheila! Here’s the bird on eNature, an Eastern Towhee. He’s beautiful! He came back, and I have more pics. Wow what a neat bird!
Now we’ve had another one here that is beautiful, and chocolatey colored. Anyone wanna figure out what he is?
UPDATE: He’s a Brown-Headed Cowbird. Man, their profile on eNature doesn’t paint a very pretty picture of this species. Still, a pretty bird.
Here he is:
And here are a couple more GOOD pics of the stunning Eastern Towhee!
I’m out painting and this bird catches my eye. WOAH! I’ve never even seen a picture of anything that looks like this guy!
Your assignment: Find out what kinda bird this is for me! Please someone post me a linky to his profile and tweeter noise?! I’m sorry the pics are not as great as usual, I was running for the camera, jittering to correct the settings and then the birdie wouldn’t keep still! Doesn’t he make you hungry for s’mores? Okay, maybe it’s just me.
Guess what I get to do tomorrow morning? ::shudders:: I get to visit the dentist! EEEK!
I am guessing that I will be numb for up to 3 days since I require about 2 vials of novacaine before I can handle the sound of that high pitched drill so close to my brain. That’s a good thing. I will just have to take additional pain medication prior to my appointment so that the injections don’t make me squeal, either!
Yep I’m every dentists’ nightmare patient. Now you know something about me that you may not have known before!
I also have to be pre-medicated. For those of you who don’t know what that means, it means I have to take about a weeks worth of antibiotics an hour before and 2 hours after my appointment. Why? Cause I have some heart-valve problems, and apparently the bacteria that enters your bloodstream during dental work goes directly to your heart and advances the problems faster than they normally would. Yipee!
I hate going to the dentist. Bah. And the insurance coverage? Eh, so-so. It seems no health insurance on the face of the planet really wants anyone to get restorative work done, so they issue you a check for two-cents and send you to the bank to take out a second-mortgage on your home. By the time you’re done paying that loan off, you’re back at the dentist getting dentures anyway. 😛
Ok I’m going to go paint. On cam. I may or may not post work in progress pics, I’ll see how it goes!
Happy Thursday everybody!
Hey everybody, I’m gonna plug Lisa here and try to help her out, she’s looking for some part-time help with her design biz!

While the number one qualification for this opening is a strong sense of design (aesthetics) along with strong web skills, we’re also looking for individuals with great critical thinking skills.
We run shop like a consultancy, which means you need to know your stuff-and “their stuff” (whoever they may be).
Work Environment:
Your home.
In your pajamas, if you like
This is part time work. Could move, potentially, into full time in the future.
If you can do it or know someone who would be interested, send ’em her way, wouldjya? Thanks! (I’d do it, but she says I’m way overqualified. heh.)
I did get a few more sketches done today, the top two are from the 4×4 countdown (one upgraded to 5×7). The goobly gobbly one is CAKE. Yes I’m gonna paint a cake. MMM. And if you’re nice to me and post a whole bunch, I’ll share the recipe with you. heh.
This one is Sissy, she’s a white kitty and will be a nice dramatic portrait since she’s got really beautiful long white fur. Her left eye looks strange right now because I just outlined where it will appear to be. There is a beautiful drop shadow cast on her left side, she will actually have a similar (and reversed) shading effect of Into The Light.
I have been trying to get good pics of a few of our birdie visitors without much luck until lastnight! I decided to remove the screen from one of the studio windows (that are super clear ’cause I just washed them), and I sat there at sunset, waiting patiently, and voila! A gadgillion pics later, I had two decent ones I’m not too shy to share. Our cardinal is so camera shy. I could go outside without my camera and he wouldn’t flee. He sees that big black thing pointing at him though and he bolts pretty quickly! I was pretty giddy that I got a pic of him. Even if it is grainy and not nearly as crisp as I’d like it to be. (Shoulda got the 8MP. bah.)

Gotta add one, I just took this one this morning! I’ve been trying to get a pic of this bird for 2 years! I think it’s a finch? It is so pretty, and he sings like he’s been cross bred with a canary!

Ooh-ooh! One more! Boy I have a prime spot to capture & share our backyard buddies now, don’t I? Here’s a chicka-dee-dee-dee:
