    Iraq: The Vote

    January
    29
    2005

    Election day in Iraq. The headlines on CNN’s website are just so biased, aren’t they? The headline, “Eight more Iraqis killed on election eve” begs the reader to believe that the election process is absolutely horrid. Then, a good halfway down the article, you get to see the positive side;

In voting elsewhere, in at least 14 countries around the world, thousands of exuberant Iraqi expatriates — many of them exiles who fled Saddam Hussein’s dictatorship –have already cast their ballots. (Full story)

“It’s the greatest day in my life, the greatest feeling ever in my life,” said Montador Almosawi, who voted Friday in Southgate, Michigan, near Detroit. “My feeling is that I’m doing something for my country.”

Expatriate voting that began Friday will continue through Sunday.

More than 280,000 Iraqis registered abroad, though that figure represents only about 25 percent of those eligible to vote. The biggest group was in Iran, where 60,000 registered.

How nice of them to mention that! I just read something over on Blackfive that sums up how I feel about the media – and this particular article – very well. You’re never going to know how many insurgents we beat to the punch. You’re only going to know how many innocent lives were taken by them.

    Ug.

An even better source, Iraqi Blogger Central. Jeffrey, an American, quotes and links to many Iraqi bloggers and their thoughts on the election.

I ask that you please keep our guys and the Iraqi people, who are working toward bringing their country into the present, in your prayers these next few days.

In art related business, I’ll be painting today. I’ll update my webcam status so you can stop in and watch if you’d like.

    2005

By the time I’m done with my schedule I’ll have completed ten portraits, but seriously, this is TEN’s portrait. LOL (heh! Moommmm why’d you name her a number!!)

So here’s my hurry-up-I-wanna-show-ya horrible digital pic, with glare and everything! Oh I can’t wait to scan her!

Actually, you can see a better image of her on my
    webcam!

Scroll on down and have a look at her underpainting…big difference huh? It’s so fun to share that really wild looking “holy cow that’s AWFUL” stage.. I’m big into the whole “psyche!” thing. LOL

Just turned it back on, I’ll be painting on and off the rest of the day!

    Wowzers! Look at my schedule!

    2005

I’m in a jaw-droppin’, how-the-hell-did-that-happen kind of state at the moment. I’m booked through Mark’s arrival now. Woah.

    You guys are awesome.

(this is down in the left hand column under Current Schedule)

Now the pressure is on… I will paint until I can paint no more. You will look at me and see multitude of colors pouring out from my ears. When you stop by my studio you will find me underneath a sea of empty tubes of Winsor & Newton Oil Colours, feverishly applying hair to whatever sweet little creature I have on canvas.

    ::sqwee!::

    My dream come true!

(Any other takers? c’monnn…. I want to BLEED pure pigment…bring it ON!)

Today I shall work on The Supreme’s. They will have nose jobs, eye-enhancements and ear-tucks. I will apply hair-plugs and give them chunky white streaks in pre-determined locations. They will each be their own “Swan”, and then later we can have a little pageant! Doesn’t that sound fun? (Am I losing it? You be the judge.)

I’ll flip the switch on the cam in a little while, the Mister is around somewhere and wanted to chat a bit this morning. Check back under “Studio Webcam – OFF” and if it says “Studio Webcam – ON“, c’mon in!

    Mail Mess

    2005

Somehow or another when my server switched, it botched up all kinds of fun stuff. Including my e-mail.

So here I am doing my thing yesterday, completely oblivious to the fact that 82. EIGHTY TWO. E-mail had not gotten to their final destination.

    Eighty Two.

I will get caught up. After coffee, and taking the garbage out, and getting a shower…LOL

    Work in Progress #4: Emily

    2005

Yep, I am freakin’ out. I moved servers in the middle of the night lastnight, so now everything I posted this morning and afternoon is gonnnneeeee and I don’t know if I can get it back. This just makes my yicky mood worse, ya know?

Here’s Emily’s underpainting, which I posted this afternoon, but let’s just pretend you never saw that it was here and gone. Garrrwowowowlll…

Hey, I remembered that I took a screen shot of it for mom! Hey! It’s back!!

    Didjya see it?

    January

    2005

Didjya see my new skin? I am just loving seeing it live! I did create all of the graphics for it and all that jazz. Just one thing you might wonder about, and that’s the top center design. I have to tell ya, that’s a tattoo design that Lolo of Rase Hall Studios conjured up for Mark and I before he left for Iraq. I flew down to Louisiana to see him off, and we both got that tattoo! It is so neat, totally unique, so I had to find a way to incorporate it into my new skin! She has the neatest stuff in her head! A great artist & sweetie pie to boot. She’s on my link list over to the right, too, under Paint Well. If you haven’t stopped by her blog yet, please do!

I just had a great idea…how about a reader based design? Wouldn’t that be neat? Here’s how we’ll do it. The first person replies with a suggestion for something they’d like to see in a new skin, and the second person adds to that, and on and on until I get everyone’s input and then I’ll build a design based on it. Sound like fun? Ok! Let’s do it! Then if it’s really funky, it’s ALL YOUR FAULT! heh! LOL

My back is feeling much better today! I can move without pain, yay! Thank you, Sheila, ’cause you know no-one listens to what the doc’s say (ok well you did), I applied a nice gel icepack to my back lastnight for a while (fell asleep on it, oops!) and got up this morning and aaah. MUCH better. I think it helped to have Caitlin whomp on me and smear icy hot all over my lower back, too.

One more thing I’ve added here for you guys, my schedule! Over in the left column “Bloggy-Do’s”, down beneath my website gallery menu is my current schedule.

I’ll be working on Emily’s underpainting this morning on webcam!
