  • Lion : Final Scan & Details!

    April

    2005

Are you ready for this?! ONE MORE TIME, I will show off my newest masterpiece. Man-o-man. 3 hours to scan, my computer kept misbehaving so I called Dell for more virtual memory. (That’s right, another gig of VM just for the lion!) Then I had to reduce my scans by 50% just so my programs wouldn’t crash out on me. More memory will arrive tomorrow, then I can piece the original full size scans together and it will be large enough for a near-full-size print.

I thoroughly enjoyed painting this guy, and hope many more people consider custom wildlife paintings. It gives me a great opportunity to broaden my gallery and get to the zoo for some photography sessions!

Click “read more” for all of the detail images. There are plenty, and they rock! (Toot, toot, toot – it’s so unlike me, but this piece does deserve it!)

    Completed Catfish Pics!

    2005

Yayyyy finally!! I’ll have professional pics to share as well, but for now, these are my final pics. He’ll be picked up tomorrow and clearcoated, then photographed professionally for the brochures & whatnot that they’ll have out all summer. He goes on display in a couple of weeks for everyone to see (and mess up, the worst part, grafitti jerkoids) for the entire summer. In August he’ll be auctioned off to the highest bidder (C’mon, Bass Pro Magazine guys!) Click “read more” for the remaining pics.

I added metallic gold along his side, highlighted his eyes, and put reflections over the “fisherman” to make him look more like he’s inside the fish.

Final Scan & Detail : Purple Tigerpixie

HERE she is. You can also see the close-up of her eyes, which I think turned out just purpley!

This is going into my monochromatic series. I use a limited palette of 3 colors (normally), Carrie’s consists of indigo, violet and flesh. I did end up using just a smidge of white as well on this one. I wanted this series to be a little more “loose” than my regular works, with more visible brush strokes. It’s hard for me to let that happen, but there are some visible here! LOL

Also, if you don’t know the “who” of who this is, you can visit the Purple Tigerpixie’s website here, or her blog, here. She’s an artist and friend, so you can see her work, too!

Here are Thor & Oz, I am not entirely pleased with the scan and need to redo part of it (dark banding where I merged, otherwise it’s ok to show ya!). I’m including large detail of both birds, hiding them behind the “read more” tag, so read more!
