  • Seasons Greetings from Iraq!

    2004

    To all our friends,

I want to thank each and everyone of you for the support, prayers, and love you have given to me and my family during my time deployed in Iraq.

During this holiday season I would like to pass on my best wishes to you and yours, and I wish you continued happiness and success in the upcoming year.

This year for my family had been a very long and stressful one. We have survived and with the strength of our love and the blessing of our children and family we will make it to the end of this deployment which hopefully will end in the next few months.

Once again thank you for your continued support during this holiday season and during my time of deployment in Iraq

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    Mark

    Leanne,

You and your kids are heroes in my eyes as well for all the sacrifices you’re making on behalf of all of us. God bless you and your family!

I’m so happy Mark knows we all appreciate him; I pray it continues to give him–and you–the pride and strength to push on.

Merry Christmas to you all and best wishes for a spectacular New Year!

Merry Christmas, Mark! I hope you get a few moments to enjoy the holiday season. My thoughts are with you and all the other remarkably tough individuals who do what you do. It is humbling to think of your sacrifice and I wish you the best and hope you all get to come home soon.

    Son,
It is impossible to say how proud we are of you. We will be thinking of you Christmas maybe a little more than on every other day. Just stay safe and remember you are loved very much. See you soon.

This is the kind of man I married. Sitting in a foreign country with explosions, gunfire, helicopters and the loud voices of other guys in uniform, an occasional foreign voice that is still barely understood. The worst food-in-a-bag on the face of the earth (save those care packages, thank God for those), on the job and in the mode 24/7/365 (literally now). Hot showers once in a while, a restful sleep occasionally, and during your “free” time you’re wishing all of us here happy holidays.

This is the kind of man I married, trying with every ounce of who you are to push the thought of Christmas from your mind, but knowing that the holiday surrounds us here and can’t be ignored.

It won’t be the same here honey, and you know that. I already miss the Christmas CD’s, candles, the smell of baked goods. The dim lights in the house and cozy time together after the girls go to bed. Decorating the tree, untangling the lights, remembering when we made which ornaments. The last 15 years worth of Christmas memories will continue to replay in my mind until the day after Christmas, when we can both sigh in relief that we’ve made it through the hardest one of the year.

The anniversary of Christ’s birth, feeling His love wrapped around our home and family, even though you’re so far away, is the reason for the season. Thanks to Him (on so many levels in so many ways), you’ll be home soon and we won’t miss another one together.

Thank you for being the kind of man you are. You’re admirable, courageous, and giving to the Nth degree.
    I love you.
