  • Friday Four

    December

    2005

My Friday has to be better than My Thursday. First, our Cardinal playing peekaboo out back, he’s just candy. Totally unrelated to yesterdays events.

Second, I have a question. Let’s say you get a gift, from someone you didn’t expect a gift from, someone you never talk to or even see. Let’s say you dream about the gift and how not right it feels to even accept it. What do you do?

Third, while all of my good friends were off bloghopping the TT, I was combating a hacker in my system. Here’s how it went: Leanne visits first blog left in comments. She opens the window, reads Thirteen Things, in the process the open window has gone inactive for no apparent reason 3 times. She has to click the window to activate it, then scroll. Opening comments, the comment page also went inactive several times, as though something is running in the foreground, but nothing is running in the foreground. She begins typing a comment, and the words start looking lkei tish because the cursor is being magically repositioned to the space before the letter she just typed. Thinking the blog she was visiting was cursed, she tries another TT. Same thing.

As you can see from my list of Thirteen’s I visited yesterday, I didn’t get far before I was cussing my fool head off and running Panda Activescan Pro on all three of the puters on our network, spending hours cleaning and eliminating.

    Very Blue

    2005

We refilled our feeders (better late than never!) and our birds are back with a vengence! Our Chickadee’s and a new breed – I’ll try to get a better photo of that one to show you.

We also have a new neighbor. Lastnight, my neighbor brought over her brand new baby …

    Topping it Off

    December

    2005

Our Christmas Tree Topper. Every year since 1991, our tree topper has looked like this. The Star of Bethlehem, at the very top of the tree, as it should be. The bow, our symbol of the gifts bestowed upon baby Jesus upon His birth. The Angel, which I created from a craft kit at the inception of this tradition, is made of wire and fitted clear beads. She sits under the bow and announces the birth of Jesus.

I love our tree topper, because it’s not just a star, it’s not just an angel. It’s the combination and the symbolism that takes my breath away when I look at our tree.

Dog Painting : Joey WIP #2

    2005

(from last progress update… “This is an 11×14 oil painting, a custom dog portrait – he’s a black poodle. I’ll post another progress when I complete his underpainting.”)

This is Joey’s completed underpainting. This is the base from which I’ll paint his fur, deepen and brighten his eyes and mouth, and give his coat a nice soft shine.

CSI : Death of a Snowman

    December

    2005

All I can say is MEAN PEOPLE SUCK. Frosty was pushed. There are footprints – he was pushed hard. I tracked the prints back to their source, and I think I know who did it – and I’m tempted to call the cops and file a report. Obviously the jerk had to push hard, Frosty is a well built snowman and didn’t go down easy.

Nothing ruins the warm fuzzies of the holidays better than evidence of the a$$holes of the world lying right in your front yard. All of the kids who enjoyed seeing him on their way to school, all of our neighbors who loved looking at our Christmas display. Sniff.

    Our Own Cherub

    December

    2005

Everyone with children knows that when you find something with your childs name on it, it’s a major accomplishment. I had been collecting Seraphim Angels and have a few, and one day I was looking them over in a Hallmark store and saw this Cherub. She looked so much like our daughter, I had to see her up close. Wouldn’t you know, she’s named after our Caitybug! Needless to say, this perfect little replica of our little Angel hangs year-round in our home, I think more to remind me that she really is sweet – even when I wonder how she can behave like she’s possessed.

    MEME #1, FIVE THINGS

The rules for this particular meme are as follows: Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot. Simplicity itself!

    1. Vince
    2. Hanuman
    3. Running2Ks
    4. Chickadee
    5. Leanne

Then you get to select five people to pass the love on to. I choose to fill in these spaces with whoever hasn’t done this meme and would like to – so let me know if you do it and I’ll put your links here.

    Now, on to the questions!

    Hugs From Santa

    2005

This morning’s photography session is over, and look at this. I could just cry it’s so sweet. I’m picking through the photos I took, filtering them a bit, burning them to CD for the school.

What a neat thing, the backdrop – Santa – the kids amazement – I’m so glad I volunteered for all of this!
