I’ve got a few things left to do, so I’ll finish up tomorrow on this piece. I did get a lot done on Ella this afternoon though!

Here’s the current status on this portrait, I will probably look back & forth between works in progress more than any of you guys, I already see a couple of minor little things about John that I’d like to enhance a little more (particularly the shadows around his face into his hairline). I’ll be working on Ella through the evening and may not finish until tomorrow now. I’ll update with another progress shot later on tonight.

Here’s where I stopped on their portrait yesterday, John is just about finished.

I’ll probably complete this later on today and send it off for my client’s approval.

Tonight I laid down the basic highlights & shadows on their portrait. I blended a bit to get a feel for this paper, and it really holds and blends the chalks well! I’ll be continuing on this piece tomorrow.

I’ve spent the afternoon with the girls, at the eye doc. We thought Caitibug had recurring blepharitis, but this time it turns out it’s allergy related and the drops we had were not even touching the inflammation in her little eyeballs. Poor Bug, she looks like someone just shoved a hot poker in her eye. Ow.

I just checked the Taters, and they’re not dry enough to scan yet. That pure pigment takes more time to dry, and there’s a LOTTA pure pigments in that painting!

This lil tidbit of news should probably have its own entry. I know how my “regulars” come strictly for the “eye candy” so if you guys miss this, I’m gonna have to smack ya. I submitted a photo to a contest held by the International Library of Photography, and found out today that I’m a semi-finalist! Regardless of weather (whether?) (whatever) or not I win or place, my photograph will be published in their annual hardcover anthology that goes to print this fall.

So, after the girlies are tucked into their tent for the night, I’ll be working on John & Ella’s portrait. I’ll update my cam status when I get going on it!

    Random Blatherings

Another couple of backyard sightings for you, we had a new guest the other day, this beautiful (and huge) Red Headed Woodpecker. Of course after I saw him, all I could hear was this.

Do you remember our little nest of babies? Well they’ve become a noisy little bunch, and here they are now peeking out. They should be on the ground learning how to fly in the next day or two, huh?

Yes, folks, I’m really that boring when I’m not painting! I did manage to jump in the pool with the girls for a little while on Saturday, at least I think it was Saturday?! I’ve been so absorbed in these last two projects that I don’t even know what day it is.

Of course seeing pictures of myself does to me what I expect it does for everyone else – makes me want to go get a facial, teeth whitening, some red-eye removal (or sleep), a real haircut and last but most certainly not least, for 25 more pounds to evaporate from my body ASAP. I just want to look like this!! Is that too much to ask?! Sigh. I wonder how many hours a day she works out. And how many lettuce leaves she limits herself to. Do you think she’s ever even eaten a cheeseburger from Wendy’s?

Allllmost finished! Once this is all dry, I’m going to add the stars on the flag, initials on their lil sign, and do a little more darkening & lightening.

After working on her feet, I swear my client is evil. She put those on her on purpose just to confuse me I think. What on earth are those things?! Plastic bare feet in heels with no straps? I’m so confused. Well. If it was her goal to challenge and confuse me, mission accomplished!

    😈 😆

Trackin’ back to Beth and Jo, because linky love is a good thing!
