If you only knew how my day went yesterday! You would probably laugh, most likely be somehow repulsed at the precise wording I would use to describe my personal Series of Unfortunate Events, and walk away wondering if you should ever come back.

Let me just sum it up in as few words as possible:

Being a girl can be a wicked-awful/hilariously funny cruel joke.
A diaper is a diaper, no matter what form it comes in.
Gravity hates women; we don’t need to stand on our heads for something to drip upward.
I’m not sure which is worse, the need for pre-meds or the need for dental work.
I’m glad my regular physician is old-fashioned.
    I’m glad the pharmacist whispered.
I’m going to go have some yogurt now.

Now I spent a little while out in the yard yesterday after I finished painting. We’ve got some really pretty things in our yard that we enjoy being around, and I know it’s probably boring to a lot of people but I’m sharing anyway! Neener-neener!

I was watching a baby squirrely cautiously finding things to eat around our feeders, and then his big brother (I think?) started romping around the yard with him. I love their duo pic. Then we have a siamese gerber daisy growing, which I think would sell on ebay for millions of dollars because it looks like, uh, man parts. heh. We have roses in full bloom all over the place, and I started experimenting with black & white photographs of them. I wish monitors were scratch & sniff, they smell so purdyful in full color! We have another baby bird learning how to fly, but I’m not sure if he’s a robin or a starling. He looked kinda lost. Just all sorts of backyard eye candies for you today!

I think I really need to get out more. 😆

    Shrew!

This little guy has lived in/under/around our garage for a few years. I’ve spotted him several times hugging the back wall of the studio making his way back to his little hole in the corner of the garage. I think shrews are blind, anyone know for sure? It was neat watching him this morning, collecting seeds that the birds and squirrels have scattered around and hiding them in this little spot, then taking some back with him to the garage.

And hey! Cool news, I was contacted by a volunteer from the Committee to Restore the Dove Shooting Ban. It looks like one (or two or three) of our Mourning Doves will get to help their campaign. I’m excited to see my photography used for such a good cause!

I’ll be painting early today, in case you want to check back for webcam status.

    HAPPY FRIDAY!

Here’s the second work in progress on our lovely Tater Couple. This is sortof an underpainting, it’ll really only need the lightest lights when I finish them. So basically, what’s finished is almost in its final state.

    Little Green Monsters are Cute!

I have to admit, I love it when my hubby gets a lil’ jealous. hehe. He has been so patiently waiting for some strange guy (who either can’t read or knows he’s going to be blog fodder) to IM me. He jumped on my puter as soon as he heard the chime this morning. Awwww. Afterward, I looked at the guys profile, and dagnabbit, he’s cute! Okay it’s probably not even him, but still. A good looking schmuck of the day. Enjoy.
    😆

John & Ella Portrait WIP #1

    June
    2
    2005

I’ll be working on John & Ella’s portrait next week, so I’ve been prepping their portrait to get it ready to start. This one will be done in the same medium as Doc Shnurman’s portrait, but this time I’ll be using a different ground. I picked up Wallis Sanded pastel paper (the museum grade), which only comes in white. I mixed a flesh/peach tone using watercolors and acrylics and did a two layer wash over the sheet (stretching and all that jazz while it dried). The digital pic is over-saturated with red, it’s a little more pale in person than what you see here.

I did finally finish up that custom illustration (which just plain rocks, I think!), and over the last couple of 8-10 hour days sitting here in front of the computer on my tablet have resulted in my hand becoming “the claw”. I think I’ll see if I can find a more comfortable stylus for my tablet! I’ve been hitting the couch elevating my arm pretty early the last couple of days because of it. Still a little sore, but a day off from the tablet will cure it! I can’t show you the final graphic until it’s been incorporated into the design, though, so you’ll just have to be patient. 😉

Today I’ll be painting the Tater couple, and I’ll update my cam status when I get started!

    It’s JUNE!

    2005

I’ve been waiting all year for June, July & August. My three favorite months of the year, because why? Because it’s NICE OUTSIDE! And I don’t have to wear sweatshirts, and jeans, and big heavy coats. No more shivering, no more cold-puppy-nose. Okay my nose was cold yesterday. It was 81 degrees outside, but I swear it was only 60 inside. I worked all day on my custom blog graphic, so I didn’t get outside to warm up at all.

The roses are blooming, too! This is one of our First Prize roses, we have two open right now. The other is so full and huge it’s about the size of a cantalope! Heyyyouuuuumungus, as Chickiemonkey would say.

I’ll be finishing up that graphic today, and then painting some ‘taters! I hope you’re having great weather?! (No more frosts, Mrs. P?) Have a good one!

    Family Outing

I lied. We did end up going out yesterday! We drove for a really long time past a lot of cornfields, and landed at this really beautiful park, that looks nothing like a cornfield. We grabbed a paddle boat (ouch) and tooled around the lake. Isn’t it beautiful? It was a really nice day, and my legs are really sore now. That’s a lot of paddling!
