Today is a great day, and it has everything to do with that little thumbnail to the left. That is a screenshot of my CalorieKing.com Diet Diary from yesterday (click it to see it full size).

Yesterday I made awesome choices. I was full all day, and I snacked when I felt hungry.

Today, I’ve broken into the 150’s again. Now I’ll say what I weigh. Now I’m not ashamed anymore. 158.4. I haven’t weighed this (much/little) in at least 12 years. Seriously. I don’t have too far to go to meet my goal now, my realistic goal is 155, and my dream goal is 140. I don’t intend to “stop” when I get to my goal, because look at that menu! I ate a lot of satisfying, healthy food yesterday and it was good. I made the right choices and it showed up on the scale this morning.

    Aaaah. :sigh of contentment:

    It’s about dang time.

    ww.jpgWeight Watchers Weekly Weigh-in #11!

A really surprising week for me, honestly, because I had a disappointing meal or two where I thought I made good choices but it turned out that they weren’t as good as I thought. Thankfully, eating all the goodness the rest of the week kept my metabolism in check and burning my poor choices away along with a little bit of excess baggage. Yay For Core!!

In case you didn’t catch it, here’s that post I wrote about How to Lose Weight the Right Way. I’m seeing a lot of people talking about diets and dieting, and for me – it’s not about a diet. Diets are temporary things, you go on them, you go off of them. If you want to be successful, you have to re-learn and re-train yourself. You have to be prepared to permanently change your way of thinking about food. In order to do that, you have to study food and the components your body needs for fuel. I said in my comments on that post that you have to eat for your body, not for your social or emotional needs. Learning how to do that is absolutely key in continued health and maintaining/achieving a healthy and natural weight for your body.

If you can’t tell, I’m really drawn to nutrition education and it’s weighing heavily on my mind and heart to further my education and become a Certified Nutritionist.

Without further adieu, here are the results of my educating myself on nutrition and eating natural goodness:

    1st week: -4.6 lbs.
    2nd week: -4.2 lbs.
    3rd week: -1.6 lbs.
    4th week: -2.4 lbs.
    5th week: -.8 lbs.
    6th week: -2.6 lbs.
    7th week: -1.2 lbs.
    8th week: -2.2 lbs.
    9th week: -1 lbs.
    10th week: -.2 lbs.
    * * 11th week: -.6 lbs. * *
    Total to date: -21.4 lbs.

    I’m a happy girl.

How to Lose Weight the Right Way

“How does one become a butterfly?” she asked pensively.

“You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.”

    ~Trina Paulus

The quote at the meeting this week is so appropriate. Without these meetings, I might not keep things like this in mind, I would definitely not feel like I am holding myself accountable for my health and in turn – my weight.

    ww.jpgWeight Watchers Weekly Weigh-in #10!

If you’re following my weight loss progress, you’re noticing that I haven’t kept my promise of detailing out the reasons for my weight loss success as of yet. I’ve started it, but as many of you know – my clients come first, and I had a doozie of a project last week (No, not you – or you either. You don’t know ’em. I promise.) that stressed me out a bit and kept my head in a cloud of CSS. It also kept my loss at a minimum – but I’m just happy to see another negative number!

This week is looking much better and I’m excited to get a few really neat projects done and I will, of course, link them like a crazy person.

    First week: -4.6 lbs.
    Second week: -4.2 lbs.
    Third week: -1.6 lbs.
    Fourth week: -2.4 lbs.
    Fifth week: -.8 lbs.
    Sixth week: -2.6 lbs.
    Seventh week: -1.2 lbs.
    Eighth week: -2.2 lbs.
    Ninth week: -1 lbs.
    * * Tenth week: -.2 lbs. * *
    Total to date: -20.8 lbs.
Now I will go get that post finished for you and you’ll see it tomorrow right here. (Pinki swear.)

custom wordpress blog design three column miscmum
I added another new blog design to my portfolio this weekend, putting the finishing touches on Miscmum late Friday night (early Saturday morning, Aussie time!). She made the leap from Blogger to WordPress (smart, smart girl) and she’s still getting her feet wet working in the admin panel and finding her way around.

I fixed her up with a whole new custom design – built her own personal privacy fence, you might say. I added some VIP (very important plugins) to her installation, among them are Instant Upgrade and PlugInstaller. These are two biggies that will really get her going in the right direction. (Also, for those of you wondering lately where the preview pane went with your upgrade, you need to grab the Preview Frame plugin.)

Go on over and welcome Miscellaneous-Mum to the Wonderful World of WordPress, let her know what your favorite plugin is, and make sure you add her to your feedreader, too!

    Look at the Heron

great blue heron canvas print original artist Leanne Wildermuth' class=
I wanted to show you this last week, but I couldn’t. I wanted to have a chance for Laura to receive her copy before I showed anyone. Now that she has hers, I can show you mine.

This, my original painting from Laura’s photo, is one of my favorite paintings. Within just a few weeks of completing this piece and making it available, the original painting was marked sold and I wondered if I would ever be able to have a copy of it even for myself.

At 18″ x 36″, the painting is massive and took nearly 10 scans at 300dpi, painstakingly pieced together over hours of waiting and praying that my virtual memory wouldn’t crash my system. My critical eye saw areas that needed smoothing, better blending, balance, and when something didn’t match up quite right, I scanned that area again.

It took me several hours, and several Tylenol. The end result is a file. One single huge 90MB file records every little brushstroke that I invested in this Heron.

Finally, I was able to have it put it to print. On canvas, even. Gallery wrapped canvas. It’s not quite the original size, at 15″ x 30″ it’s a few inches smaller than the original painting – but it’s wonderful, and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. It’s not as crystal clear as my painting (of course I’m very critical, it is my work I’m looking at), but it is good. It’s better than any of those other joe-shmoe prints at Target, the quality and durability FAR surpasses any of those.

Of course I had to have one for myself, and it is only right that since Laura permitted me to use her amazing photograph as reference material, she get a print as well.

Now he’s a focal point, of course, right beside the piano, you see him when you walk from the kitchen into the living room and family room. When I pull Chickeymonkey’s hair back in the morning she has two places to turn her head toward while I do her hair. First her eyes are on Jesus (a framed print), and then she turns to the Heron.

“Look at the Heron”, I tell her. And we both do. He rocks.

(I have not decided yet whether this print will be made available to the public.)
