    December

    2004

Here’s how my little Alien Sock Thief Bandit (thanks to my hubby for the title change!) turned out. You know, the more I look at him the more I laugh! I hope he gives you a chuckle, too. 🙂

(psst…he’s still available to buy! I may list him on ebay. Mayyyybe.)

    Scans: The Boy & Grandma

    2004

Here are the final scans of “The Boy” (Cole) and my Grandma. I am planning on creating a monochromatic gallery with the new layout, and will be painting more of these in this loose and “less photorealistic” style. I have a few more pieces in mind already, and will pursue those after the holidays and template changeover.

    Piano Tuning

    December

    2004

About 5 years ago, I worked with a gal who was getting ready to move. Her husband had told her that he was planning on dragging the piano out the back door, break it up and turn it into firewood. Can you imagine? I told her I couldn’t let that happen, and hired a moving company to go get it and bring it to me.

Now every family event I have at my house brings my mom (hi mom!) who plays rather well. It’s really cool to have mom over and sit in the family room and listen to her play. We had both pianos and an organ when I was growing up, so I fiddle with the ivories from time to time. 😉

Now my little 8 year old is playing it by ear. She’s got the genes! I was talking with Aunt T lastnight about getting Miss Caitlin piano lessons for Christmas. This morning I contacted a tuner, who will be out next Monday to tune it and fix a couple of sticky keys, and he will bring a list of piano teachers that will come here to give her lessons.

Neat gift for an 8 year old, eh? She’ll be outplaying me in no time!

I am dead tired today. I am going to prep my next commission at some point today, and taking a nap is also on my list of things to do! ::YAWN::

Well here they are, the sweestest Bernese in town! Barney & Bailey were varnished and carefully packed this morning, along with the other Bailey, and they are now on their way to their homes!

I do have something up my sleeve today, but it’s Christmassy so I’m not tellin’. 😉 I also have the best blogskinner on the WWW, who is going to fix me up here with new digs by Christmas! You’re gonna love the transformation!

Now what are you doing here? Go shopping!!

PSST….I’m turning my webcam on to paint something very special if you want to watch!!

    Lineage

I met a blogger, Cao, who is very cool and politically inclined. I figured I could have my political blog vicariously through her, we seem to have parallel views on the matter!

So anyhoo, in reading her blog I’m finding out we have much in common, particularly an interest in art, and more importantly, an interest in our family history! I thought I’d share this precious photo of my Grandma & Grandpa with you. I just love it, it speaks volumes doesn’t it? Enjoy. Maybe mom will stop in and comment on this one. 😉

    Screen Resolution Question!

    December
    9
    2004

This one is for all of my readers. I need your input!! In putting together a new blog layout, I am trying to make a decision based on “irritation factors”. Of course I want everyone to love their stay here in my little slice of the web, so I am going to try to base my design/layout with everyone in mind.

Your feedback is very important to me! Leave an anonymous comment if you wish, or just e-mail me, either way is great!!

    On to the question.

My screen resolution is 1024×768. This seems to be the most popular screen size, BUT. I have a handful of folks using other resolutions, 800×600 being my biggest concern. If I design my site to fit 1024×768, smaller resolution users will have to scroll over to the right to view all of the content. Is that extremely irritating? On a scale of 1-10, how irritating is it? Would it cause you to never want to come back?

Right now about 15% of my viewers are on 800×600. That leaves a good 85% who are on 1024×768 or larger.

I know it’s a wierd technical question, but I do need your input. Personally, I would like to be able to display even larger images in my entries, and to do that I need to make that column wider, which makes things kinda wonky for some folks.

Ok your turn to speak up! Bring it on!! (Even if you don’t care either way, just say so, mkay?) THANK YOU!!!

I’m going to get on the treadmill and get ready to start my day! I’ll update when I start painting. 😀

My webcam is on if you would like to watch me as I work on Barney & Bailey this afternoon!

We went out yesterday afternoon with Grandma, it was fun! Jayden had a good time, too. 🙂

I’ve been fiddling with some new blog/website layout ideas, hopefully you will all get to see it in action very soon! I’ll keep you updated, it’s going to be a fabulous surprise!!

Ooh yes, I have a quick (literally, a couple of minutes) doodle to share. This is for you, K! 😉 Do you recognize the character?

    Christmas is Coming

    December

    2004

You know, I’m not a bah-humbug girl. Usually. This year I would prefer to forego the entire Holiday season because it does not feel normal. Of course we’ve got the kiddos to consider, so this year is just for them. I took them down to the tree farm this morning and we picked a very nice little 3 1/2 foot high Christmas Tree, went to the store and let them pick out their very own decorations, and came home and set it up.

They did a beautiful job. I know that they will love it because they did it. We’ll string some popcorn and put it up in a little while.

The story with our tree topper is purely about Christ. We always put the star up at the highest point on the tree, of course that symbolizes the North star. We also add a really pretty Angel just below and in front of the star, to represent the Angel that announced Christ’s birth. We have an angel that I made out of crystal beads about 14 years ago, she’s up in the attic and I can’t be pulling heavy stuff down out of there until I’m 100% healed, and that wouldn’t happen until after Christmas. So, Caitlin chose this beautiful large semi-transparent ribbon to represent our Angel this year. they also selected small ornaments for the small tree, gold jingle bells and glass snowflakes.

Me and my camera. Enjoy your tree eye candy today. 🙂
