Cat Portrait : Callie Completed!
My oh my. I love this kitty’s eyes!! Had to take a close up shot to show you. Wet paint of course, and glare, fooey, but here ya go:
Painting Callie!
Phew! Ok. Taking a breath.
I just went through my calendar and modified my schedule, adding the sizes & grounds that I have the information on for the next couple of months. Then we ran down to Dick Blick and picked up all of the canvas that I don’t have in stock. They love me down there! Cha-ching! 😛
I’ve got my webcam on and will be finishing up Callie this afternoon. **I am having problems getting the cam image to show up on the page, if you have the same problem let me know k? thanks!
I also went ahead and signed Nicki, Tori, Ten & Emily so those are drying. I decided I didn’t want to scan them until after they’ve been varnished, that way the colors are super duper enhanced!
Ok gotta get to work!
Nope, I didn’t do it.
I’m either a master procrastinator, or I really just enjoy changing my mind from moment to moment.
I started fiddling with some code lastnight with another program to replace my current gallery, and before I knew it 5 hours had gone by and I was still staring at the screen trying to learn PHP. (huh? Yea, that’s what I said.) I’m trying to manipulate the code so that it does pretty much what I have right now, only the back end would be SO much easier. It will take just moments to upload new work to the gallery versus having to resize manually, then drop resized images into a gadjillion folders on the server, then go in and hand code the descriptions. It takes a lotta work to have to do less in the long run! I think I thought that what I’m using now was going to be easier..but really, every new program find yields a new and improved way to do things! And I just have to have it. I’m strange that way.
All of that techie mumbo-jumbo just means that I won’t be taking Friday “off”! I’ll finish Callie today, and I think I’ll go ahead and scan the five that are dry and pop my digital sig on them instead of waiting another day for that paint to dry.
Hey thanks for posting your funnies yesterday! I was giggling at all of them, and I think since I’m working on so many cats that I giggled most at Carrie’s. BTW Caitlin’s knock-knock joke DID happen here just a couple of weeks ago. You’ll also be amused to know that at one point on a road trip had her believing that brown cows give chocolate milk. Aren’t I awful? If you think that’s bad, Daddy added to that one by having me tell her that the goats in Iraq produce strawberry and banana flavored milk!
Ok I’m done rambling for the morning. I think.
SPC Dusty Hill
On September 21st of 2004, Mark was on his way home for his 2 weeks leave. I heard news of an explosion on the road that connects the airport to Baghdad, and had an eerie feeling that it was part of his unit.
Four of our guys were injured that day (someone correct me if I’m wrong on that one), one of them being SPC Dusty Hill. Dusty was flown home shortly after sustaining major burns, lost his right eye and both hands.
Last week, Dusty was part of a CNN special and I was in tears when I saw him being interviewed. He’s a positive force indeed. I think that when the guys come home I may have the opportunity to meet him, and I’m sure I’ll be getting in line behind many who want to give him a big hug for his sacrifices.
I just found this page about him on the Army website, a photo taken after he received his Purple Heart.
He’s been in our prayers and thoughts throughout his recovery, just wanted you all to know about him too.
There’s a fund set up for him here:

Possum Portrait : Possy III Completed!
Here’s the digital pic of PossyIII. I’m going to sign everybody else tonight and hope to scan all of my recent paintings tomorrow some time. I’m gonna try to get Callie finished up tonight, too!
