    Eyewear

    2006

I had my head examined on Friday afternoon. I know, I know. “It’s about time”.

My annual eye exam rendered my right eye completely usless for 15 minutes, since they photographed my retina. JEEZ. Don’t they know I only go in for an exam to get new frames? See Spot. See Spot s’more. And There’s Spot Again! Hi Spot, HI! Go AWAY Now, Spot! Go!

Here are My New Specs. Now I’m giggling because I just now realized that these are my current specs.

I’m such a creature of habit!

    Iced Over

We’ve still got a shiny coat of ice on everything around here, and the temperature is in the negatives, even worse with the wind chill factor.

Me, I’m taking the day off today. Not working. I’m going to play, and maybe shop, and maybe find a skin care line.

Speaking of skin care, do you use anything from the neck up that I should know about? For cleaning, moisturizing, that kind of thing? I’m not big into make-up, but my complexion could use some help. I feel like my face is thinning out so much that my skin looks droopy or something! I always have had problems using things because my skin is so sensitive to chemicals. I know the chlorine from swimming so much doesn’t help, it’s drying my skin out a lot. Help?

This carnation is blooming in the bouquet that was just delivered to mememememeeeeeeee!

My hubby is full of sweetness. I wonder if things like this happen because I notice them, because he orders it that way, or just because’a destiny.

Here’s the full bouquet, it’s massive, and makes me thirsty for some reason. Hm.

    My other Thirteens
    1. “Yesterday was 8, tomorrow is 10. Daddy will be home on 10! Tomorrow. Daddy will be home tomorrow.” This is a sample of the exchanges I’ve been having with our 4 year old this week. Daddy is working long hours a few towns over so he hasn’t been home this week. So far she’s nailed days of the week, number of days in the week, days inbetween today and when Daddy comes home.

    2. For Colleen because she likes it when I write about my dreams, how’s this one. Two nights ago our dog was barking. She never barks unless there’s danger. Just one of those danger-barkin’ dogs, she is. It’s 5’ish AM, and I’m standing at the windows peering out into the darkness for shadows, critters, something that has her riled up. I turned lights on, off, she was pacing and not a happy girl. Unable to find the source, I went back to bed with ears perked. I closed my eyes, and the dawn started to break. It was bright and sunny outside, so I went to check on our dog to be sure she was okay from all her excitement. When I opened the blinds, both of our vehicles were gone, our garage doors were open, most everything from the garage was gone. It was totally empty. Beside the garage, on the sidewalk, was our dog. Lying there. After having tried to protect us, those thieves knocked her on the back of the head with a stick. And all while I was inside ignoring her warning.

    3. Sometimes I hate it that I dream so vividly. That was one of those times. She was barking, I did get up to check, and from where I closed my eyes until the end, that was the dream.

    Riddle Me This.

    2006

A man (who finally has enough cash stashed to pay $150/hr attorney fees) walks into a laywer’s office and says “I’d like to end child support payments for a child who turned 18 and moved out of his mother’s house over 6 months ago, my employer (DFAS) will not terminate without a court order.” The laywer says “those excess payments have been being returned to you or the courts this entire time, right?” The man says “are you kidding?”, and the lawyer says “I must be, because that rarely happens!”.

The man says “I really do not want to fight over what has been overpaid.” The laywer says, “You overpaid for months. You are legally due the excess monies.” The man signs away his right to be submissive in the courts.

The laywer, efficient as he is, processes all required paperwork quite promptly.

Three days later, the man receives an e-mail from the mother of the over-eighteen-year-old that reads “You could act like a grown up and just emailed about child support, which you never stopped sending! I didn’t ask you to keep it going that was your doing.”

Not surprised in the least by this type of response, the man scratches his head, and then laughs.

Here’s your chance to really get to know me! Below are a list of questions. Hopefully, the correct answers are obvious, but if not – then you’re just never going to know, ’cause I’m not tellin’! haha! Ready? Set? Go!

    a. Like it very much when people aren’t paying attention to me. ME! IT’S ME OVER HERE, SEE ME OVER HERE? I’M RIGHT HERE! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!
    b. Regularly join groups/projects/endeavors that I didn’t think up.

    5. I am…

We’re still holding bowls and pulling hair back, it went from one to the other this weekend. The monkey is back to school today though, and she doodled before she left.

I think she’s got it. You think?

    My other Thirteens
“Thirteen Things about Thursday Thirteen” Day.

    1. I might not be hosting it anymore, but sheesh, that doesn’t mean I didn’t create the thing or that I don’t have a vested interest in how it’s going.

    2. This whole themed T13 thing is strange to me, I’m seeing a lot of them and miss the ones that actually talk about them and what is happening in their lives. I mean why surf the Blogroll if all I’m going to do is find out someone has 13 favorite dog breeds? (For the record, you can do it however you wanna, I’m just sayin’, I like more perrrrsonal 13’s, that’s just my preference!)

    3. Yes I still surf the T13 blogroll. When I have time. People make it sound like I drove off a cliff or something. heh.

    4. I have surfed as many Thirteens as I’ll be able to surf today, probably. My daily “don’t stop til dusk” starts in about 10 minutes.

    5. Someone made a bunch of new headers for the T13. My personal all-time favorites though are Colleen’s. She’s been doing a different one every week since the first time she joined in.

    6. Yep, I miss being hostess. Some days. I do like it that now I can step back to the “regular” level and not feel a heavy weight to go visit everyone on the blogroll.

    7. Technorati has been displaying Thursday Thirteen as a hot tag on Thursdays for several weeks now. How cool is that?

    8. I bought the domain. THE domain. And I hope, someday, that the T13 will have a permanent home and not necessarily require a host or hostess. I’m sure Nicole and Lindsey will appreciate that in the upcoming weeks, as well.

    9. I pink puffy heart Nicole and Lindsey, because I know how busy they are now.

    10. This is the 26th Thursday since the Thursday Thirteen was born, August 11, 2005.

    11. Obviously, this is my 22nd TT. Even I have missed a few.

    12. The very first TT Participant ever was Sandy, aka The Crusty Crone.

    13. I can’t resist the urge to write 13 things on Thursdays. It’s been hard holding back the last couple of weeks! Any other old regulars have that same trigger on Thursdays, or am I the only fruitcake?

Okay. Phew. Now it’s out of my system. Off to the gym!

Get the Thursday Thirteen code here!
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

    Bath, Bed & Beyond

    February
    1
    2006

Bedtime with Chick had me in stitches the other night. It went a little something like this:

Me: “Now I lay me down to sleep”
Chick: “Now I way me down to sleep”
Me: “I pray the Lord our souls to keep”
Chick: “Pay the Lord our souls to keep”
Me: “Guide and guard us through the night”
Chick: “Guide ‘n guard us twoo duh night”
Me: “And wake us with the mornings light.”
Chick: “Wake us withuh mornings wite.”
Me: “Pray a big hedge around…”
Chick: “Mommy Daddy Caitlin and Jayden AaaaayyyyyyyMEN.”
Chick: “Oh! And Alexis and Laaayyyyla and Owen. AaaaaayyyyyMEN.”

Then we do kisses. I get a kiss for me, and one extra on the lips. Then I get more extras, and she turns my head and plants them on my cheek. Every night, I make a different sound effect after each kiss – and that kindof determines how many extra I’ll get. If I’m funny, she’ll keep doing it. If not, I just get a couple. That night, I counted.
