This face. When this face looks at you and proclaims “I’m growing! RIGHT NOW!” How can you not believe it?

She’s so cute! She’s sqwishalicious, even! And she means it. Just look at her. She knows she’s growing, and she’s absolutely thrilled about it!

Seriously. While we were out of town a couple of weekends ago, Chickeymonkey proclaimed “Mommy I am growing right now!” And that picture (although taken at the evening parade & fireworks show at Disneyworld), was the look on her face when she matter-of-factly stated her spurt was occuring at that very moment, in the middle of dinner.

I was surprised, to say the least, and concerned! I asked “you’re growing? RIGHT NOW?” she replied “YES!”. I said “Do you need anything? Are you in pain? Does it hurt?” And she said “NO!” I asked if she’d like some milk? Bread? Anything at all? Again, “NO!” Okay.

I have a kid who can feel when she’s growing. How neat to have such an actue awareness of such a thing at the age of 3, huh? I thought so!

It’s been a couple of weeks since her last growth spurt, and I haven’t given it a second thought.

This afternoon, I was lying on the couch and asked her to come over by me so I could scratch her back and arms. She just loves that, she”ll hold perfectly still as I scratch her, and if I stop she’ll grab my hand and start it up again. It’s hilarious, actually, and I intentionally stop just to see if she’s paying attention.

Today was different though. As I was scratching her arm, her eyes widened once again and she said “MOM I’m GROWING again!” and I stopped and asked her “how do you know that?!” and she said “I just AM!”. Okay. I resumed and she said it again. “I’m growwwwwinnnnnngggg!” and I looked down at her skin, as if somehow I could see what she was feeling.

Know what I saw?

Goosebumps.

Yes. My child got the heebie-jeebies from goosebumps, and that must feel an awful lot like growing.
