In the early 90’s, hubby and I lived out in the San Diego area. Between wars (Desert Storm, Desert Shield), we were able to spend a Christmas together there before moving back to this frozen tundra. His mom had a ceramic shop back then, and shipped a box of blank ornaments for us to paint. Santa was my project, he’s a little guy (fits in the palm of my hand) but I took great care in painting him, drybrushing the dark shadows in his beard, giving him rosy cheeks and bright blue eyes. He’s worn over the years, and paint has chipped away. We still have all of those ornaments, dinged up as they are.

This one has a very special place on the tree. He sits near the top, but not too close to the top, so he doesn’t distract from the top of the tree – which has it’s own meaning and order to us. I’ll show you that soon. 🙂

It looks cool “dinged” up. More antique-looking. Really cool and I can’t wait to see the top of your tree. We don’t even have one yet.

P.S. I really love the new Thursday Thirteen blogroll. I have it up on my site and whenever I see that “bump”, I hurry to check out what is new. It is a good way to keep our fellow Thirteeners coming back to us and vice versa. Thanks, again.:good:

What a beautiful ornament! Thank you for sharing them. I know on my parents tree, my mom has stories behind every ornament on it. I’ve always thought it was such a beautiful way to make Christmas time even more special.

I love his weathered/antique look. Ornaments with special meaning are the absolute best.

I like the ornament AND the picture. I do the same thing with my ornaments too. Some of the ornaments have special places on the tree and those usually are the ornaments that have special memories or a good story.
