  • Two New Pumpkins

    2005

I just finished carving this beast. OooOooOOo isn’t it SPOOOOKY?! (ha!) Well I think it’s nearly Wicked, personally. I dunno if I should enter my own pumpkin(s) into the Pumpkin Carving Contest or not? Whaddaya think? Seems inappropriate for the host to enter. I figured I’ll just show mine off here.

BUT. My hubby can enter, right? Yes! He carved this next one…

    Church Mural #2

    October

    2005

Today was spent at the church, working on the mural. It’s coming along (see the last progress pic)! Now that the surfer dude is done I think it will go a little faster.

What are you up to this weekend?

    Doubly Delightful

    2005

If you think this just looks beautiful, you should smell it! I wish I could bottle the smell of this rose. This is a Double Delight from our garden that I cut yesterday and brought inside. I figured if it could make the driveway smell so nice, it could work for my dining room, too! Then this morning when I put it on the windowsill to get some light, well, you see what happened. Wowzers. A beautiful home grown rose on a clear fall day. Deep breath in… release slowly. Aaaah.

I’ve uploaded the first entry into the Pumpkin Carving Contest, go look! And get carving, wouldjya?!

    Have a great Saturday!

    What’s Left Of It

Did ya’ll think I’d look like Demi Moore in Gi Jane? Nah. Not quite. The #7 guard has left about 3/4″, and I’m really choppy at the top, maybe an inch? So. Here ya go, and just for reference? My shirt is yellow. Canary yellow.

    Fall Bling

    2005

Fall has arrived. It’s so pretty, but why does it have to get so freakin’ COLD?!?! :cold:

Today is one of the nicer days, clear blue sky, a little chilly but not freezing (yet). It is supposed to snow. Yes, snow. This weekend. That’s just stupid. Snow is stupid. All due respect to those who love playing in it, but brrr. I cannot justify putting 50 layers of clothes on just to go outside, and still have my eyelashes and nosehairs freeze and break off. It’s just not right. It’s very pretty, as long as you’re looking at it out a window from a cozy room that doesn’t cost $5,000 to heat every month. See? There are fewer and fewer things to like about cold weather every year. haha!

The CAT scan wen’t well yesterday, I guess. I mean I didn’t fall over dead, and didn’t get claustrophobic, not that I’d have any reason to. The highlights were that I drank a gallon of chalk, got there, and was invited to toast the occasion with yet ANOTHER full cup-o-gagmewithaspoon. The dye IV was wierd, just wierd. The whole thing really took the wind right out of me though, for some reason. I’ll get the results on Monday – always the last to know, know what I mean?

Ah well. I finished adding all of the Thirteen links, so go on and visit some new folks! Everyone seems very nice and I am going to try to go read everyone’s TT’s today.

    Happy Friday!!

Thirteen Things about Leanne, Thursday, October 20, 2005
    My other Thirteens

    1. I kicked off the Pumpkin Carving Contest yesterday. I’m waiting for my first submission. C’mon, people!

    2. I should have stopped drinking my coffee 1/2 hour ago. I’m not supposed to have anything 3 hours prior to my CT Scan today, but I’m not ready yet. Besides, aren’t appointments always 1/2 hour behind? In another 1/2 hour I get to drink 2 gallons of chalk. Yum. I bet you wish you were me right now, huh?

    3. I’m 5’6″!

    4. I dyed my hair Sunday. It’s like, orange, oh-mi-gawd! I was so frustrated that I got out my Wahl Clippers, threw the #7 attachment on them and shaved my head. There. Now I don’t have orange hair. I don’t have ANY hair at all! Oops. Good thing hair grows. Great thing, my gray hair grows SUPER fast. It hates to be ignored.

    5. My favorite pants are my “Y” yoga pants. They are so cozy that I want to wear them every day. They’re in the washing machine so I can wear them to my appointment, since they don’t have any metal in them. I wash them a lot.

    6. I sent MommaK pics of myself when I was (younger). She’s going to have a little contest today, and you should go play it. You can also see my goofy looking younger self. Holy crud, I just saw the one she put up of me. Bahaha! Okay. That’s hilarious!

    7. I received final payment for the Catfish project yesterday, which was (supposed to be) 10% of the final auction price. See that (supposed to be)? Yes. Well. This is not the first time, but I think it will be the last. It’s no easy thing to paint these giant critters, and for being the 3rd one I’ve basically given away, I think I’ve met and exceeded my charitable contributions for a lifetime.

    8. Now I’m reminded that I need to put my first two giant Frogs in my gallery. (Jotting that down in my handy-dandy-notbeook)

    9. I saw my podiatrist yesterday, the one who removed the lump in my foot last year. She is absolutely adorable and sometimes I wish I had more foot trouble. She is fun to chat with and visit! I wonder if Doctors have a “no patients as friends outside the office” rule. Or in this case, “no patients mom’s as friends outside the office” rule. Hm.

    10. I wonder how many people carve pumpkins anymore. Anyone? :bawling:

    11. I hate Halloween. Really. I do. People are having a hard time believing that I carved a pumpkin let alone bought costumes for the kids. What’s wrong with me? Well. Halloween teaches children how to beg, this much is true. MY children already do that very well. They’ve had much training. So, I think they’re ready.

    12. I bought a very cool model last weekend. I’ll buy her soulmate this weekend. I will get to use them on my next commission!

    13. I had two paintbrushes floop over on me yesterday. They quit on the job, those meanies. No two-week notice or anything. I hate when they do that.

    Bindi Kitty : WIP #4

    October
    19
    2005

I had hoped to finish this painting today, but that didn’t happen. I dislike very much (read: hate) being off schedule, dangit. And it’s a self-imposed schedule at that. I’m a terrible boss, and obviously I’m rebelling against myself, or something.

Seriously, jeesh, the day I’ve had. If you’re ever wondering what dehydrated and partially digested strawberries look like at 7AM, you just let me know. iew. Also, if sores of the feet are interesting to you, say if you have a fungal foot fetish? I’m your mom. But I digress.

If you want to see this painting as it progresses, click on this category: custom cat portraits. I painted as much as I could today, and this kitty has about eleventy-thousand more hairs on him that I need to paint. I didn’t really count them all, I’m just guessing! C’mon, ya’ll know about me and math, we don’t get along.

Anyhoo, tomorrow is the big “C” day. I get to have a cat scan of my very unique and oh-so-rare herniation, because not only is my art going to be in an educational book some day, so are my small intestines. I’m so popular, I can’t stand all of the attention. This really has to stop. Really.

I’d LOVE to finish Bindi’s portrait tomorrow. He’s going to be amazing, and I think I’m as excited to see him finished as my client is!

    ‘Nite!

If you want to see this painting as it progresses, click on the category custom cat portraits. You’ll see the differences. I’ve got the eyes and nose nearly completed, and I’ve enhanced the blanket and drop shadows. Tomorrow (after this layer is dry) I’ll be painting his fur, hair by hair!
