    Utility Room Project

    January

    2005

What another interesting day! I hate doorways. No question about it. I would rather lift a refrigerator fully loaded over the top of my head (ok, well, try.) than cut a piece of flooring that fits around door trim. It is STUPID. Why aren’t they square??

(Guys? you’re the geniuses who came up with this stuff, WHY WHY WHY!?)

My “home brew” wall color turned out really cool. It looks like a nice deep terra cotta. Great against the flooring!! I still can’t believe this was all so cheap (money wise), it really looks rich. I would NEVER have invited anyone into my utility room before, iew! And you’ll see why. Double iew. And an ick for good measure.

I took 4 different before & after pics and put them all together…so you can see them if you just click right here…

Recap of my week thus far.

Are you ready for this? LOL

Ok first I’ll show you the before and after pics of the transformation, then I’ll just ramble and either (a) make you feel really sorry for me, (b) make you laugh at my stupidity for tackling such projects, or (c) cause you to shake your head and really not know what to think. 😉

When Floor Guy arrived Tuesday afternoon, he and his helper guy started by moving the fridge into the dining room, and stove into the living room. Wouldn’t have been bad if it weren’t such tight squeezes in those space, and as a result the 1/2″ thick floor moldings are now gone. That’s just the boring part. He started to pull up the flooring. We’re on a concrete slab, and when we moved in we tore the base cabinets out of the kitchen and put in new ones. What I didn’t remember was that the plywood went down on the floor – UNDER the cabinets – with some kind of inpenetrable adhesive. So the only parts of the floor that didn’t have adhesive were the parts that were buckling and cracking from moisture. (See second “before” shot above. The light differences on the floor are hills and valleys. That makes cooking in the kitchen interesting!)

Pulling up the floor was insane, as he had to cut into it with a circular saw and then pry it up in tiny pieces (mostly shards of plywood) with a crowbar. Oh yea. What a mess.

    2005

Please? C’mon over! Floor Guy is on his way, after my morning of appointments and errands, now I’m sporting my home makeover apparel and I’m ready to get dirty and gross this afternoon! I will be so relieved to have it done.

In other frustrations, I didn’t walk yesterday. After a long day of mindbending coding and getting the New Gallery Layout completed, I hit the showers and passed out cold. Can ya blame me? That’s a lotta thinkin’!

This morning I thought I’d send out an announcement to all of my buyers/clients about the comment feature and new layout, so I spent a good 45 minutes gathering e-mail addresses only to LOSE them all when I tried to copy and paste them into the BCC to keep everyone’s info private. Gr! I had to take off for my appointment so I didn’t get a chance to redo it. I’m hoping to get that done yet today.

Ok sorry no eye candy, you can look at the ice pics from yesterday though!

Website Gallery Changes : In progress!

    2005

Hey! Today’s uh, over. How did that happen? I got up, we went to the grocery store, I started mucking with this neat program and getting my gallery images ready to go!

So I’d show you my progress on the new layout, but it’s really hush-hush right now. It’s a top-secret design that no-one anywhere has, I thought it up all by myself in the shower one day. No, I was driving. No, wait, I was feeding the dog. Yes, feeding the dog. Anyway I thought it up, and Lisa snaped it into position, and now I’m mucking! Fun!

No, I did not paint today. I will not paint tomorrow. I will paint on Tuesday! The Floor Guy is scheduled for tomorrow, which means I’ll be peeling & sticking again. The guy is like Linus, I swear, a cloud of dirt around him wherever he goes. Yes, he’s a dirty conservative Tim McGraw lookalike. So?? Is that really such a bad thing???

Alright sorry about that, I’ve missed you today, or I’m a little wound up from reading code. heh!

Still Life : Antoinette : Painting On Cam

Yep, you heard me right! I will be painting on webcam shortly.

Today started out pretty good! The girls and I had a slumber party lastnight on the couch. We stacked up pillows, blankies, and shoved the ottoman into the corner to make a big cozy spot for us all to crash. We watched The Abyss, flipped through a bunch of really crappy stations for 2 hours, and fell asleep before midnight. As usual! LOL

Now this morning I got up and moving right away, and decided that I’m going to do better in holding myself accountable for meeting my 2-month goal, not much time left!

The New Year is just a few hours away, with it will bring us all many, many good things.

I am looking forward to having my hubby home in just a couple of months now!!

Cao, you inspired me to bless everyone’s ears with some tunes (and I’ll take it off tomorrow), so I hope you all enjoy it and didn’t have your volume up too loud upon entry. 😉

Gina, thank you for stopping in and leaving your mark! You are welcome anytime, join the fun! It will keep your mind busy while your hubby is away as well.

Have a wonderful evening, and a hopeful and forward looking morning tomorrow!!
