    Custom Portrait J&L : WIP #4

Almost finished! Tomorrow I will refine just a few more areas. The photo is yicky, sorry, the painting is very wet. The scan is always the best representation of the finished piece, I won’t be able to do that until Sunday night/Monday morning.

You can view the work in progress in order by viewing the Still Life & People Paintings category. 🙂

Another work in progress, I’m close to finishing this one up now. This is the underpainting, now everything I do will be to enhance, clarify, deepen and lighten the piece. Unless, of course, I notice more perspective issues. This has definitely been a challenging piece, very much a learning experience.

You can see the first work in progress here (or just click on the Still Life & People Painting category below to see them inline).

This is definitely one of my more complicated pieces. Only the underpainting of the background is completed, and I’ll be refining it and modifying some perspective before I even begin to paint J & L.

This is the new piece I’ve been working on, it’s finally ready for show and tell as a work in progress. This is a custom portrait – the setting of which is based completely on the fond memory of a woman about her her father. After composing the setting and pulling elements from several very old photographs, a bit of background here, a side pose there, the smile of her father, I merged all of it together and created this scene that (hopefully) matches her memories of sitting in front of the fire talking to her dad when she was a teenager.

This is the third fourth revised sketch on canvas, ready for paint. There will be a soft glow about the room, which I’m really looking forward to painting. I’ll start the underpainting this afternoon and get work in progress shots up for you to see as I go.

Pending any last minute tweaks, Bindi’s portrait is complete. I’ll follow up with scan & detail images after any final revisions are made and he’s dry & varnished.

    Church Mural #2

Today was spent at the church, working on the mural. It’s coming along (see the last progress pic)! Now that the surfer dude is done I think it will go a little faster.

What are you up to this weekend?

    Bindi Kitty : WIP #4

I had hoped to finish this painting today, but that didn’t happen. I dislike very much (read: hate) being off schedule, dangit. And it’s a self-imposed schedule at that. I’m a terrible boss, and obviously I’m rebelling against myself, or something.

Seriously, jeesh, the day I’ve had. If you’re ever wondering what dehydrated and partially digested strawberries look like at 7AM, you just let me know. iew. Also, if sores of the feet are interesting to you, say if you have a fungal foot fetish? I’m your mom. But I digress.

If you want to see this painting as it progresses, click on this category: custom cat portraits. I painted as much as I could today, and this kitty has about eleventy-thousand more hairs on him that I need to paint. I didn’t really count them all, I’m just guessing! C’mon, ya’ll know about me and math, we don’t get along.

Anyhoo, tomorrow is the big “C” day. I get to have a cat scan of my very unique and oh-so-rare herniation, because not only is my art going to be in an educational book some day, so are my small intestines. I’m so popular, I can’t stand all of the attention. This really has to stop. Really.

I’d LOVE to finish Bindi’s portrait tomorrow. He’s going to be amazing, and I think I’m as excited to see him finished as my client is!

    ‘Nite!

If you want to see this painting as it progresses, click on the category custom cat portraits. You’ll see the differences. I’ve got the eyes and nose nearly completed, and I’ve enhanced the blanket and drop shadows. Tomorrow (after this layer is dry) I’ll be painting his fur, hair by hair!
